My daughter called early Friday morning to say goodbye. Her first cruise and naturally I am very nervous. Will we be able to communicate often?

The ATT ship to shore cards can also be purchased on the Nex website, there is a section that non military family members can purchase them on there.

Sarah and Karen, thank you for the pictures, i tried to get some but my camera lens wouldn't open so all i had was his blackberry to use for pictures and they didn't turn out very well.

JoAnn,
I would also love to see the video of the boat leaving. Do I need to send you my e-mail?
Thanks.

More like 5 days... that would be amazing!... He's been gone sinc the 19th and it seems like it's been months... and no I don't have the ships e-mail... but I have his personal e-mail address... and his facebook... lol. Trust me, I e-mailed both. I think I'm gonna send him some brownies here soon... he loves my brownies... he said he's going to try to loose weight... but there's nothing like the wifey's home-made brownies... LoL. I'm trying to think of different things to send him... but I can't think of anything at the moment... but I'm sure something will come up sooner or later.

Also, thanks for all of the links... I have told myself... that I missed him leaving... but I am not going to miss him coming back... I will be there when he gets off that ship!! I would buy a ticket right now if I only knew an exact date... which none of us know at the moment.. lol. Does anyone know if they are going to come back to the states in Norfolk, or some where else?

I am still praying, and everyone... keep us updated on things, that don't go again OPSEC that is!! Thanks for the support!

My husband called me this morning and woke me up... he just talked for a couple of minutes.. and he said he was going to call me in a couple of hours, to let me sleep... and not to worry... he'd still have signal... and now I can't get a hold of him... the ship has sailed, and I didn't get to say good-bye... let the crying start all over again...

My son just called from the deck. He has people flying this morning so he was off to the ready room. No dress whites and rail manning for him, more like flight suits and running around. He sounded great, looking forward to the trip. He's promised that he will come back with a good chunk of his Master's degree completed. He's never deployed on a carrier before, says it's lots different than the LHA ships he has been on before. Big and showy.
