I just returned from a friends house... we just sat around and watched a movie and talked about my husband... but it helped a lot... I have teared up a little... but not full on crying like I have been.. hopefully it's just going to go up from here... He's getting his phone turned off on the 21st (today)... but I don't know if it was turned off at midnight... or if it will be turned off at midnight on the night of the 21st... I hope its the night of the 21st because I want to hear his voice at least one last time... for now... I just need to get used to sleeping alone... it's pretty scary... I'm living in Navy housing but it is still scary... that and I just can't seem to get comfortable with out him there... we are the time of couple who don't get tired of each other and we literally cuddle all night every night... and I need to clean my house... but I still can't make my self move the things he left laying around yet... it's still hard... even though my house is a disaster.. lol... I am praying for everyone... and thanks for the support!

I was hoping I would hear from my son before the ship leaves, but I guess not. I know he is busy and he has a wife and 2 kids to talk to. I too am in the Puget Sound area in Washington State. If anyone gets a video clip of the ship leaving tomorrow I'd sure appreciate it if you could post it somehow. This isn't his first deployment, and he hasn't lived here at home since he left for college in '93 but I still get an empty feeling when he's out of the country. Even though I hardly hear from him, I know I can pick up the phone and track him down. But when deploys, he's out of touch and so far away... OK... enough of that. Now we count down until they're back.

I found out tonight that they are leaving tomorrow...I missed Thomas' phone call by twenty mins. I cried...I hate this...but called him back and told him not goodbye but until we see eachother again. I know that with his fellow sailors he will be safe and they all seem to take care of eachother...kindda like we do here. I know that the goodies from home help but like so many others it just isn't the same...so I will await that first call home...praying that I don't miss it. We have good news thou...he is engaged and we are busy planning the wedding for when he returns...keeping our minds busy...We also did get a 10 days in VA with him two weeks ago....So prayers for all sailors and of course their families for the next twentyfour hours will be a challenge for all.

This is my son's first deployment as well. He is in V-0 and has been in Norfolk for about a year and a half now. I will be praying for all of the sailors a safe return and will be in Virginia for his return.

I've been texting my husband on and off since he left yesterday...he's called three times... and everytime I want to talk to him, but all I can do is cry... and I don't want to hear me cry. We both couldn't sleep last night, and we both cried like babies yesterday morning before his flight. He's is supposed to be calling me sometime before bed tonight... he's three hours ahead of me on the time difference, it kinda sucks.

My husband left yesterday... and I haven't stopped crying since... everytime he calls or texts me I start bawling... and my house is a mess but I can't make my self clean it.. because its stuff he left laying around... and everytime I see something of his I start to cry... I don't know how I'm going to make it through this... I can't stop crying... I need to be strong for him... and for me, but its so hard. I don't have any motivation to do anything.. I went a couple of places yesterday, like shopping to get mymind off of things... and i didn't work, I don't see the point of buying new clothes if he can't see them... he's my best friend and the love of my life... and I don't know how this is supposed to get easier... especially since I only know one person on this side of the country... any advice... please?

Becky, you are not alone with all the crying. I try not to cry in front of him, but that is impossible. I cannot even make it through an email without a downpour. However, reading these posts lets me know I am not alone. Hang in there everyone:) (I know easier said than done.)

I wish I could be in Norfolk with my husband... Today was the hardest day of my life so far. This is his first Det and our first time away from each other since we got married... I am praying for everyone salior on the ship, I hope everyone stays safe and comes home healthy and happy. I have don't know what to expect, but I guess I will roll with the punches. I hope the time goes by fast for all of us, my prayers are with everyone who has a son, daughter, husband, or wife aboard. Pray for 6, wish for 7, hope for 8, and be happy when you get 9 instead of 12!

is there any way to buy "Navy Cash" gift cards to send to our sailors? Trying to come up with birthday presents for the sailor who says he wants or needs nothing. Any and all suggestions welcome! Thanks
