Hi jbird. The jacket was found. Someone was wearing it. Even though it had her name and her gloves on the pocket the other sailor said he thought it was his.

Yay Jacob94mom! Welcome! You are officially a NM who can worry about her son who is officially deployed. You are joining a great group of ladies here and will be in fine hands. That is so cool about the cooking show your son was on!

Quick update! Got an email from
My sailor. He arrived on the ship yesterday. Got my fist box ready to send tomorrow.
So glad to see you are not leaving us BNuke! I scanned your info today to send my sailor the instructions to sign us up for the FRG newsletter.
That's awesome your son can do some traveling.
While in Baraine my sailor participated on a cooking show. He made it to the semi finals! It's an Italian televised show called Master
Chef. He won some things that he gave away. :(

No snow for us in Northern IN and I'm smiling!

I'll be reading daily and responding when I can. I feel official now. Lol
And I can now appreciate RED Friday's and One Day closer!

It's a hard language to learn and speak, but he has it down. Told him knowing another language so well will really help him finding a job. They like it when you are bi-lingual. I took Spanish in HS but at the time they were trying out a go at your own pace thing and it wasn't pass or fail, just so many credits earned. Well guess who did so poorly that she only got a 1/4 credit in it? That would be me! And at the time it was not required. So that ended that for me.

Carol Ann - that's awesome news for your son to be able to study abroad!  How exciting.  It's funny you mention the German - my son said he wants to learn German because he wants to visit there someday too. He took Spanish in high school so this will be something new lol!

BNuke's Mom: Thank you for the update on your son. Was wondering how he was getting along and/or if he was back to the States yet? He might as well enjoy a little sight-seeing and fun over there on his way back! Please definitely keep in touch. Hoping all continues to go well for him and wishing him and you only the BEST!

Oh ladies, guess what!?! My son is so excited! He applied for last year and then again this year and this year has been accepted to study abroad for a month in Berlin which also counts towards his college credit. The month of May he will be flying over to Germany. He took 3 years of German in HS and now again at OSU and speaks fluently. He tested into 2nd year of German his first year and now even though it's his 2nd year at OSU is taking 3rd year German. I am happy he gets to go back to Europe as this is something he really wanted to do.

Hi all - Happy RED shirt Friday.

Thanks too tall Joan - I will stick around to keep everyone updated....as of right now he's on a plane to Paris - well at least he made it to Istanbul & now they are continuing on to Paris!  Going with a sailor buddy for a week - just to "get away".  Oh to be 26 and single lol!  When he gets back he will be busy - going to start college applications and he also contacted a "head hunter" who seems to think there are some good job opportunities available to him.  So fingers crossed something will work out.  He does plan on staying in VA at least for the near future (and especially if he gets into a college there, then it will be longer!).

Looking forward to a very warm weekend here in CA.  Supposed to be in the mid 80's by next week - woohoo!

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.  I continue to pray for all the sailors on the HST.

Oh Carol Ann You are too funny! So stick around, ok? ha ha

TTJ-We go every August to Sight and Sound. I don't think I'll ever forget our first time when the side stages opened up. Our first show was in the Beginning. Do you have a favorite? I understand Noah is very popular but I haven't seen it. I think my favorite may be Joseph. Sampson coming up! Can't wait. If anyone is near Lancaster PA and you want a theatre experience that is second to none, in my opinion, check out the sight and sound theatre. Too Tall Joan is right, you will not be disappointed.

Sorry to hear about your hubby and illnesses. Mine had back surgery about 8 or so years ago so I know what it's like to have a hubby with a bad back. We were nervous about the surgery but when he woke up with no pain I think I recall an emotional few moments. It was such a good decision. With the storm you must have worked so hard. Is he any better?

Jbird, yes about 2 hours away. Have been there several times & if you go you won't be disappointed.
Yes, respiratory junk here too. Then trying to dig out from the snow & my husbands back went out so that made a lot of house stuff fall on me.
