This is a diary of the activities online of the Truman. Its a public site, so I don't think I am breaking any rules.  It's all "past" information. Very informative.

Hi all - Happy Tuesday!

Just wondering if anyone on here had a sailor that was on the Truman during the last deployment?  I was just curious as to how long the deployment lasted and where they went, ie what ports they visited?

From the USS Truman FaceBook page

As many already know, last night there was an aircraft fire on the flight deck. The pilot of the aircraft ejected safely and landed on the flight deck. The pilot and a TRUMAN Sailor received medical treatment for non-life threatening injuries by the ship's medical department before being transported to New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C. Their families have been directly notified.

The important take-away is that all involved are going to be okay. Our tho...ughts and prayers are with our shipmates and their families, as we wish them speedy recoveries.

Our Sailors routinely train to many emergencies including flight deck fires. Flight Deck personnel, Medical, Engineering, the Bridge team and many more acted instinctively to immediately contain and then quickly extinguish the fire. I am very proud of their quick and professional responses.

We don’t anticipate any changes to our scheduled return to home port or upcoming deployment. We'll keep you updated as we find out more information.

And, that fire is why our Sailors practice, practice, practice and spend so much time underway and away from us.

Safety of the crew and the ship is always number one.

In all waters, under all circumstances....and all Sailors must know what to do immediately.  Constant vigilance and keep their skills sharp is Number 1.....

Good morning! A fire! Oh my! Glad to know there were no serious injuries.
I was thinking last night how cool it would be to go on deck to watch the Meteor showers this week. We usually go camping during this week so we can be away from the city lights to see them.

Awesome picture of an F/A-18E Hornet that was just released by the Navy - on the Truman!
