Can anyone tell me who is the Ombud & why do we need to contact them?

Dillons Mom~ I am sure your son was disappointed to be left behind.  I am sure KC would have felt the same. I wonder why they decided to leave before he arrived?  There were 4 guys that he flew out with which made it an easier transition for all of them I am sure.  KC was nervous about joining up with the ship not knowing anyone on board. Know that Dillion will be with a great group of men & women & will be able to travel soon enough.  Meantime I am sure he won't mind Hawaii life. I know KC is looking forward to actually getting to see the Islands when they return.

Thanks Patty for the welcome.  I am sure I will have lots of questions as I am new to N4M.  My daughter actually found this sight. She thought it would help me cope with missing KC.  It helps knowing there are moms like me out there.  I was starting to feel like I was turning into a crying mess.  It turns out all moms feel this way.  I always had a strong appreciation for the sacrifice soldiers make but didn't realize the sacrifice was just as deep for the families that are left behind.  I am extremely proud of my son & I know this is something he has talked about doing for nearly 10 years before he joined.  He went to college first at my insistence.  It has made him a better person having both experiences.  He is happy & that makes me happy.

My son just flew out a week ago to join up with the USS Hopper.  He got to enjoy all of three days in Hawaii (he had duty & never made it off base) before being deployed to join his shipmates. He is very nervous & excited to be apart of the crew aboard the USS Hopper.  I just received an e-mail from him.  He said that everyone on-board has been very kind and made the transition very easy.  I am excited for his new adventures & can't wait to hear about them (what he can tell me anyway). I feel very confident that he is in good company & that they will all serve proudly!

Aloha Hopper Ohana!
I'm sorry I haven't been on in a while. Been busy with kids going back to school. They do that early here! We will be getting even busier with homecoming not far off. I hope everyone has gears from their sailors in the last few days. We are getting ready to build and send out the shoeboxes for auction, as well as the quilt. That's all I have for now. Hope you all have a good week.

PattyJ.
Planning a trip here can be very expensive. My biggest piece of advice is trip insurance on your tickets. Dates can and do change. You may want to see if hotels offer the same thing. I know the closest hotel is a best western, and there is car rental right at the airport. As far as airlines, it's kinda a hunt. Tho I have often heard hawaiin is the least expensive. If you or your spouse are military retirees, you can get rooms at either the hale koa downtown, or the navy lodge on ford island so long as you have military I.d. and they have available rooms. Hope this helps.

my sailor was on FB a bit but I missed it all. she chatted with my daughter and said she had lost her ID not good news hope she has a way to get a new one.  The things we worry about.  She won the Hoppers Got Talent on 4 July so that was exciting.

They left port a few days ago.  Hang in there...they are kept busy when they leave port.  I sent you a message that I had talked to Ryan.  Did you get it?
