Aloha and good morning moms! Our FRG president asked me to pass a message along to everyone. She would like those of you coming to Hawaii for homecoming to shoot us an email, so we can make sure your name as well as anyone you bring with you is on our list so you can get through the gate and on to the pier.

You are very welcome patty. Carol, last time I spoke with my husband, a few days ago, he said they had just gotten mail. I forgot that they get it during unrep as well. Unrep is underway replenishment. Very cool to watch. They pull up beside a huge ship, shoot lines across, and pass things back and forth. This is also how they get fuel when out in the open waters. My kids like to call it the gas boat. Lol.

You're welcome Carol! I hope I didn't sound too crabby. Just wanted to make sure I covered everything. LOL.

Hello moms! I am new to this site, but not the Hopper. I am a sailor's wife, and the FRG Vice President. I see that for a lot of you this is the first deployment. You will learn a lot as deployment progresses. Mail DOES take forever, as it is rarely helo'd in. Your sailor does have access to a few phones, and the internet. Tho you will recieve most of the calls when they visit a port. If you have a phone number for the ship, you should never call it back. It's trackable, which puts our sailors in danger. Also you want to be mindful of what you say both over the phone and on the internet. Those are trackable as well. There are NO secured phone lines on the ship. Phone cards can get super spendy! last deployment we were spending roughly 100 dollars per port on phone cards. One of the best ways to save money, is to get a prepaid cell phone that works in the region they are in as a whole. Tho they may have to get a phone card here or there. They do have internet access, but the lines can be long. The FRG and Ombudsman are here to help anyway we can, so if you have questions, feel free to shoot us an email. Or you can friend me on here, and I will answer questions to the best of my abilities. Tho, I will not give out dates, or ports. That is info. that NO ONE should be dicussing either by phone or internet, and I'm sure you can guess what I will say next. It's trackable and puts our sailors in danger. Once your sailor is in a Port they can tell you where they are. But, on a happier note, the FRG will be putting out specific details on homecoming when we get it, which is 48 hours prior. In the interim, just go by what your sailor is telling you. However, don't bank on it! We as their families tend to know more about it than they do. If you are planning on flying here for homecoming, make sure you get trip insurance in the event they are extended. Sorry this is so long, just wanted to try and cover the questions I've read here. Let me know if you have any other questions.

Hey Dillon's mom thanks for asking how Jani is doing.  she is doing great and seems to be ok . We spoke about 3 weeks ago and she said, " mom I dont want to hurt your feelings, but Im not home sick"   I feel good about that cause she said she feels good with what she is being a part of.

About her Whites, No she did not get them fixed but she states she has an extra .  She said they dont wear the whites unless leaving or arriving to home port.

Good luck to Dillon! Hope all is well with you!

Patty J--I'm am so sorry about all you're going through with your Mom.  I worry about something happening to my parents when my Ryan is so far away.  They are getting up in years--you never know.  No one knows the sacrifice our sailors & their families go through unless you've been there.  My prayers & heart go out to you.

got to see my sailor on Skype this morning, she looked happy and she had us laughing a lot. That's my baby and I can't express how proud I am and sad at the same time...they do grow up so fast
