Hey paula, I cant buy anything on the NEX web site because I don't have a military ID number. I bought all kinds of things for the Marines through a web site called SGT GRIT. But I have been unable to find anything that carries alot of Navy things.
This is the first time for me having my daughter in the Navy deploy, But my son deployed twice to Iraq. It does not get any easier. This is my baby girl. :( I am dreading her being gone for the holidays. When my son was gone, I couldnt even bring myself to put a Christmas tree up that year. But this web site may help in the fact that we all stick together and keep each other informed when we hear from our sons and daughters. That way at least we will all know that they are still ok. :)
Thanks MissMySailorPaula! That's a great idea! Can I ask where you got the flag? Did you order it online?
I know what you mean about being sad already. I'm trying to stay strong but it will be difficult. It's good to hear that I'm not the only one feeling that way.
Thanks for the heads up on the pictures, Sue. You're right - it does make them feel a little closer. Of course I scour the picture with a magnifying glass hoping to see my LO!
I've never had a child in the Navy nor had one go one a deployment. so this will be my first I've seen people put yellow ribbons on their house/car or hang an American flag etc. when they have someone deployed. Does anyone have any suggestions for this? Is it a good idea? Bad idea? Are there any reasons not to do it like security issues or something? I'm just looking for a way to honor my LO in his service to our country and remind others in the neighborhood to keep him in their thoughts and prayers. Any input or suggestions would be appreciated.
Hi gals,
It is a beautiful day here in Virginia!
How are your sailors doing?
Any questions or things I can help you with? If I don't know the answer I will put you in contact with someone who will! Looking forward to talking with you all!
Susan
Thank you Paula! Everyone has been so nice! I am so thankful for all of you! It's tough being the "newbie" and not knowing all of the terms, etc, etc. But I am learning with all of your help! Thanks again and happy packing / moving :)
Take care!
