I saw it too.  My son called yesterday.  It was good to hear from him, but if they are busy, may be a while until we talk again.

Believe it or not, we probably bought it at the same time.  It's been in my hope chest for ages.  The sailor decided he wanted to make something from it, and cut right in the middle of it--lol now.  So part of it can only be used to make hems.  Will get 2 more pillowcases out if it.

Carols Kitchen, The fabric you have pictured with the Easter eggs is one my late mother-in-law used to make placemats when my girls were little. If my sailor daughter would happen to see this I wonder if she'd recognize it?! How incredible that of all the fabrics in the world THIS one would be chosen! God bless you all for doing this! =)

Any Keararge Moms in Illinois?  We've got 2 packing parties--one on each end of the state.

Siss--thanks--that was right after PIR.  Shows he didn't lose his love of having fun.

These directions have pictures

The link I used is:  http://www.operationsupportfordeployedmilitary.org/PCDir.php

When I first read it, it sounded kind of complicated, but if you follow the directions, it works out and is really pretty simple.  You may want to make one at home first so that you have the directions clear in you mind.

One thing I would add is that if the print of the main fabric has a design that has an up & down to it, put the trim piece on the "down", so that it looks upside down.  When it is finished, you want to look at it so that from the open end of the pillowcase, the print is finished right side up. I learned this from experience.  When I did the cat one, I put the trim on at the top of the cats.  When you layed the pillowcase out, they were upside down.  I had to redo it.  The mountains were upside down too, but I didn't redo that one.  I didn't think it was quite as obvious.

The wilder the pattern on the pillowcase the more fun.

What a great project!  I am sure our Marines and Sailors will love this.

My son was in the Summit a couple of weeks ago.  I love getting that Summit everyday.  Makes my day to read about what is going on.  Many thanks to our wonderful ombudsmen!

What a great project!  Will you be sending them to Sailors and Marines?
