Welcome Keprice! What a wonderful thing for your company to do. The girls will love it Im sure. The cub scouts sending out boxes to the guys that is awesome too. It is so good to hear such great stories regarding our guys/girls this time of the year and on this deployment especially.

Hi ladies... I've been following for months but never could figure out how to join the group! I think I've figured it out now. Wanted you to know that the ladies of the Kearsarge will all get a Christmas gift. My company put together over 300 gift bags... each one filled with girly things like lotion, hair ties, aloe socks, shower sponges, candy and a hand written note. We mailed 6 very large boxes the day after Thanksgiving and the Chaplain has agreed to take care of the goodies when they arrive. Can't wait to see the pictures! I enjoy reading your notes... I'm in Upstate NY and my daughter in law is on the Kearsarge. My son (her husband) is also in the Navy stationed in Norfolk. They met on the Kearsarge during the last deployment. We miss her but I hear from her almost every day (other than River City) and she's doing well.

Michelle, your post gave me goose bumps about the cub scout troop sending boxes to your son and his buddies. That is so awesome to hear. Yeah, it was nice to see my daughter in the Summit. It sounds like a lot of them utilize the shopping on line for Xmas presents. She said that they had drawn names for Xmas and I know that she ordered on line for her gift to give to the name she had drawn.

My daughter sent her mom flowers. She was rather touched.

I was so excited to see the Summit on 12/02/10. I have been scouring every issue for a glimpse of Kim and not seeing her and there she was on the front page. What a treat! In her boxes she has been asking for V8 juice and hot chocolate. What a combination. lol She also likes getting instant mac and cheese, granola bars, and a few current magazines. I had also sent a book of sodoku puzzles and she really liked that and then asked for a couple boxes of pencils and when I asked what they were for she said the puzzles and her math class. I think that she has three math classes lined up on this deployment. That is interesting to know about the mail in the warehouse, Sissi. I had sent a dvd of the Smurfs in her box for Xmas as kind of a joke because she watched them when she was real little and she said that she burst into tears when she saw it. She said it just came out of nowhere how much she missed us. That made me cry, too.

Good info. It's sounds like I am late to the game with my package. I hope it arrives in time for Christmas or at least by her birthday on th 30th. Thanks!!
