OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Don't be nervous!  It's easy getting around.  If you can still get one, make a reservation ASAP at the Navy Lodge on Hampton Blvd in Norfolk - here's the contact information, rates, and photos:  http://navyformoms.com/group/norfolksailorsfamilyfriends/forum/topi...

You can make the reservation yourself, just give the name, rate and rating of the sailor (your Sponsor) who will check you in.  Tell them it's for a homecoming; your sponsor will have to check you in within 24 hours of your arrival.

It's very close to Gate Five so getting to the pier and ship is easy.  If you're not renting a car, you can take a taxi through the gate.  Get info from the ombudsman and/or the FRG about base access for the morning of homecoming.

The taxi fare from the airport to the Navy Lodge on Hampton Blvd is about $20-$25, if the friend can't meet you.  And if the Navy Lodge is full, the info for the next-closest hotels (Hampton Inn and Quality Inn on Hampton Blvd)  is in the Discussion at that link too.

Wow my phone is messed up, I had so much trouble trying to respond to ur message. I left my phone number on ur keasarge page so we can talk. I don't know how to pm so I just put it out there. Let me know if u go it. If u did please call. I am staying at a hotel the nite before the cruise. My daughter is a manager for the Aberdeen hotel, I think it has a different name in norfolk. She can get us a really good rate. I will give u the info when u call. Maybe we can get together and go together.let me know if u got my # asap
