OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

I read on the Summit that when sailors/marines get to Pakistan they wont be able to receive packages, letters or emails. The only way to communicate with them is through motomail (www.motomail.us) I sent a letter to my boyfriend today and it will b delivered tomorrow. They are able to create an account also... great way to communicate.

Hope you guys don't mind me joining in. My son is a Marine instead of a Sailor but he is in the 26th Expeditionary Unit deployed on the USS Kearsarge. His dad and I found this site last night. It was a Godsend. We actually saw him in a pic on the Facebook page we found out about through this site. Thanks so much to all of you that have shared info. We have learned more here than anywhere about our son.

Julie I'm not sure what you mean. The only port has been in Greece a few days ago. On a lighter note, we can officially announce that the have finished transiting to the Red Sea. We are not sure if RC has been lifted yet but they can flush the toilets! Ewww. I will post something about this on Face Book when we get home. Some will find it funny or at least interesting.
