Ladies,
I am one of the Ombudsmen for the Kearsarge. Since this is the first "real" deployment that the ship has done in a couple of years and with its unexpected departure, we have had a tremendous outreach of parents who have their Sailors on board the ship right now. With technology being what it is now, we no longer have to wait on those...remember, square things with stamps...letters! Stacey and I would love to recommend this sight for those parents who are trying to find a way to bond with anyone like themselves that have their children on board and so far away. Since we are not the creators of this site nor it admins, we would love to have permission to promote it with our Command parents. Please let us know by emailing us at kearsargeombudsman@gmail.com. Thank you!

My son is an air traffic controller on the ship, he said before they left (he has to know the weather at all times and what it might possibly do) that the ship will not tackle the hurricanes (there were two as of last Friday). They don't want to have to deal with any damage right now heading out although he said they could go through one, they won't.

Love it JulieR! I was told when I first married my husband by a wonderful woman who had gone through vietnam war with her husband that the only thing I ever needed to know about the military was on the LES (that is the old term for leave and earning statment). All of the rest of the acronyms were not that important, I still get a chuckle to this day about it. Have a great day everyone, you are all in my heart and prayers! One of these days they are going to learn to give medals to the families that stay behind and run everything!!!!
