Mrs.W - thanks so much for the info!  I'll be sure and let him know.  He's on his way over there today!

Yes, there are several different courses here on base that teach Japanese!! I've personally taken one and loved it. There are a few places right off the main base in Yokosuka that teach Japanese too.   If your Sailor is already here and is interested, all the information is in the Community Center, 3rd floor I believe.

Does anyone know if there are any Japanese language classes
offered on base or anywhere near by for the sailors that are new to Japan?

lol ok. yea mark just told me those dates yesterday, but its not like the sources are always the most reliable..they should be this time though because he went ahead and requested a few more days to see if he could get them since we are having the wedding. but oh MAN 4 tickets would be absolutely insane lol, so thats really cool of you guys to choose the second one! and it really has been, im hope the ones who need it can have the time they need  back here :/

Lol!

Those sound about right.  I'm still waiting on my husband to let me know the leave dates, are those the ones they're getting this year?  We always try to take 2nd leave so the guys who want to go back to the states will be able to do so.  4 tickets from Japan to the states at Christmas time...outrageous! Haha.  I really hope everyone's loved one is able to get home this year.  It's been a rough year for our Sailors, they deserve some R&R with family and friends.

haley, we commented at almost the same time lol, are my dates not right? maybe they dont know for sure yet
Comment by Mrs.W on September 20, 2011 at 9:10pm
They will be getting holiday standdown, we're not sure of the dates yet, but we've been told they'll be allowed 18 days of leave.  It usually starts the week before Christmas for 1st leave, and 2nd leave period is usually a few days after Christmas.  They can go back to the states if they're approved to do so.  :)   Usually the sailors without dependents will try to go back stateside, and those with dependents here stay.  Hopefully we'll know the dates soon and your Sailors can let you all know the game plan.  :)
