Finally email from my son... seems like they came in and went out several times, but expect now to be busy rendering aid in the affected area. They are not sure what to expect, but I know that they will be great. Some stories of watching the towns ashore from sea no doubt.

He also wasn't able to get to  his place in town. I am impressed with all involved and how well they are handling this emergency--citizens, governmental authorities, and of course, our navy. God bless and keep them all safe.

Hi everyone, I heard from my son and he said they were in port but are going out again.  Didn't even have time to check his place out before they left again.  The good news is they are safe.

God Bless

getting word via twitter of some injuries in the city of Yokosuka-shi. Location not specified. Older people pinned down by furniture. I have asked about damage. They have set up a blood collection center and next news announcement is at noon their time (1 hour)....will try to find out what I can

* our kids are safe at sea, this is the town and neighbors *

learning how to do this, bear with me moms.

my son has housing in Yokosuka so I spent time on twitter trying to figure out the situation there. From what I gather it is patchy, trains not running yet, esp express trains on keikyu lines. I know there are some tunnels there so it may be just as well to walk, which appears to be what folks are doing. power was initially out, but now some have it. also I was surprised to read that someone was heating water (gas ok) to warm their tropical fish (must take care of the koi, yes?) Yokosuka has an information/aid center in the heart of town and I'm sure our navy is a big help too. havent heard about actual condition of buildings so maybe ok?

Wow, that's a sad but true statement Theresa..my son's been in awhile and sometimes he is just not very good at keeping in touch..says he's just busy but I know he has his own life to worry about ..not pacifying mom...;-( But when he does get in touch it's great!
