Hi my name is Debbie and my sons name is Jeremy, he is a corpsman on the Mesa Verde 19.

I seen where some of the moms have been able to talk to their son/daughter. How did you all get to talk to them? I was wondering also if we can mail to them like shampoo, deodorant, etc. I'm worried about how Jeremy handled Haiti. Jeremy was born in the Philippines but he is from Riceville, TN. I'm very glad I have Moms to talk to.

Debbie, I haven't tried to mail that. most of the care packages I have seen don't really say to send them and I look at the care package the same way I look at going on an air plane..sorry, but that is just the way I feel. Karl has asked for different items and is the one that calls me. I have caller id so I have had to learn to answer all unknown caller calls as it show ans unknown....my cellphone has managed to capture his caller ifd a few times and it's not a number that we can return calls to. Hope this helps you a little.!
thank you four your help and may god bless you. debbie
I haven't heard from my son either. That's pretty normal I guess considering the number of people using phones. I'm also concerned about how they handled seeing everything in Haiti. I keep telling myself that's the sort of thing they prepare for. But it's hard!
faithrenae, read all the e-mails from moms in the group Mesa Verde 19. about how to get a free phone care, you can e-mail him. talking to moms really helps and you can learn a lot of information. is your son on the mesa verde 19 and what is his name? i have heard from jeremy, by using one of his friends international phone cards. the mesa verde 19 just got on haiti yesterday for 7-14 days.
My son's name is Sgt. Jonathon Gilbert. He's a crew chief on the Huey helicopters (Marines). I still don't understand how to email him. Can you help? Thanks!
Oh...yes, he's on the Mesa Verde. It's his 3rd deployment, the first was in Iraq and then on to Afghanistan. I'm glad he's on a ship this time.
have you got to speak to him any? If you have ask him to email yopu and then when you want you can email back with a reply to his note. At least that is how I do most with my son...when I just send an email straight thru it has a tendency to bounce back. Their system on the ship can be sensitive at times.
No, nothing yet. He's not very good at calling or emailing. Also, he warned us that there are a lot of people using the phones and computers, so he might not be able to get through very much. I just found out about motomail.us where they'll print off the email and deliver it to him, so I signed up for that tonight. Navy people attached to the Marines can use it too. It feels good to know that he will at least get emails from us.
I've had one phone call from Jared so far. That's sort of typical for him. What bothered me was that I could hardly hear him, when I did get to talk to him, but I he sounded like everything was fine. I don't think there is any problem with sending those items. I just sent out a package with food and movies. If you go on the sight www.mesa-verde.navy.mil/ you can get info, and if you go to links, there is a place to sign up for a family info account. It takes some time to get approval, but its another source of info. the zip code ends in 1702
thank you very much, i will not worry about if it is the right zipcode. i have not heard from jeremy since 1/30/10. i think he is on land.
I heaqrd from Karl for 2 minutes today. He wasn't sure if everyone on the ship had an email but knew every one in his division did. He wasn't sure if the marines had the same access.
it would not hurt to try. when i told jeremy about motomail, he did not know about it. do you know what kind of cheese i can mail jeremy that is safe not being in the frig? i'm really glad you heard of Karl, i wish jeremy would call. we pray for our sons/daughters to be safe and for the moms to not go more crazy than what they are. GOD BLESS
