The Mesa Verde was deployed early, in March, to support the NATO action in Libya. That's mostly what the ship has been doing ever since. That is not secret information; the Navy has issued news releases to that effect. Everybody is wondering what the ship will be doing now that the NATO action is ending at the end of the month.

Im new here.... can you please explain to me what's going on.  What involvement is the Mesa Verde playing in this event?  My son just joined the ship; first deploy.  Even a private message would be great.

I was reading an ABC News story about the developments in Libya today and saw this paragraph about the US part of the mission in Libya. Proud of our sailors and Marines for being there to support the effort.

"The US effort includes more than 70 aircraft (refueling tankers, fighters for the No-Fly mission, predators) and one US Navy ship, the USS Mesa Verde, which is part of the naval effort."
