OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

We've made it to Groton and are looking forward to meeting the other Miami families.

Catie, Thanks! I'm looking forward to getting to Groton. I've actually started packing, which is driving my husband crazy. I've already got Alex's Peacoat in the car. And of course his presents. You know your kid isn't a kid anymore when you are giving him Yingling for a welcome home present!

I guess some one should start a count down. But then since we aren't allowed to list the return date, some one needs to come up with something creative.

I believe the religious metals are considered jewelry and they are allowed one piece of jewelry. Anything else would not be allowed because they would be considered out of uniform. However, don't take my analysis as the last word. It would be best to check with a local recruiter. They know all the Navy regulations.

Hello there,  I am wondering if anyone knows if they are allowed to wear Scapulars. I know they can have religous metals.

You need to check with April (Miami wife). PM me and I'll send you her e-mail address. You need to give her your full names, date of birth and place of birth. Plus your son's name and rate.

Renetta, are you a member of the meetup group for the FRG? All the information has been coming through that group and the Ombudsman. I'll see if I can PM you some details.

Hello, My son Charles is out on his first deployment. He called home tonight, was really excited to hear from him. He asked me if my husband or I have been contacted about his homecoming, which we have not. Does anyone know whom we need to contact for this information. Charles said he had turned in all the our info.
