My sailor skyped me on facebook today! i got to see him and hear his voice! I almost cried. It was the highlight of my day! got to be online for over an hour. he looked tired but great and it was music to my ears. he said the weather reminded him of home.
I just heard from my sailor! couldnt call but was on fb for an hour chatting i will take it. so good to hear from him. says that mcdonalds is way expensive, $16 for a meal! not worth it going to eat reigndeer instead. LOL never thought i would hear that from him. also that is was great to see the sunlight again. hope the rest of you hear from your sailors soon. have a great rest of the weekend. :)
got my text this morning then a phone call. JD is in great spirits. He said he was glad for the emails the last 2 months, that he eventually did get them. Said he was the only one on the boat that knew about the earthquake or the crack in the Washington monument.
Laura, he thinks it's wild that you and I are talking. He says he's know Jake for a few years now, while he was on his last shore duty. Says that he relieves Jake for watch every day, that Jake is his lead petty officer and they are friends. JD said he told him "did you know your mom and my mom are talking on the internet and like exchanging baby pictures and stuff". I thought that was hilarious.
He says it's 8 degress celsius there. He bought a reindeer pelt!! and bought a baby seal purse for Wendy. They are on track for the next port, where Wendy and some of the other wives are flying to visit.
Don't know about the rest of them, but JD was in a great mood and acted like things are going great. Hope all the rest of you hear soon!!
That is good news. lets all keep praying and our fingers crossed that they will be back in time for the holidays and will make it home!
Hawaii sounds WONDERFUL! That is my dream vacation! Your son should be able to get the Military discount for airfare which will save a bundle!
