OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

LLovesmysailor - the is great.  Hopefully the will be back in time for the holidays and are able to come home!

Does anybody know if they are able to take leave right after they get back to port or is there "down time" that is required first?

Comment by LLovesmysailor on October 3, 2011 at 1:35pm

I just re-checked the OPSEC rules concerning returning ships or subs. They rules say that we can list a Month but not a date or a port.  Don't know about the port thing because there just aren't that many ports for fast attacks. But since we all know where Miami is homeported I don't think we need to post it. So, anyone who was concerned about listing a month, it wasn't a violation of OPSEC. At least according to N4Ms.

LLoves, A meet & greet sounds great if I can make it there. I'll have to check with my son to see if he put me on the Ombudsman list.

I was just thinking that if there are enough of us at the homecoming, would any one like to have a N4Ms meet & greet. Just a chance to say hello before the boat gets back?
