I know J.D.'s area had pups. I think he had one or more himself. like i said - he doesn't talk much! I have to fly up there. it usually takes all day. i worry about the weather, too. i prefer not to fly up in the winter, but i have a few times. he has been in groton for 10 years now. i know it well.
My son is a Nuke and closed mouth does not even come close, when you are talking about Nukes. He also said that his division is short handed. I think he will be the LPO during this deployment, which is not suppose to be 6 months long.......
During the last deployment, which lasted 9 months, we didn't hear from Alex for nearly 3 months at one point. However, he was in the process of getting his Fish. So, that would explain a lot of why we didn't hear from him. I'm planning on going to their home coming. I went to the last one and wouldn't miss my last chance to be there when his sub comes home.
thanks girls. My daughter-in-law was much relieved when I called her this morning and said others haven't heard either. J.D. told us we wouldn't hear for a while, but Wendy seemed to think he meant another phone call.
J.D. is an FT1. He does "fire control". He works on the computers that fire the torpedoes. He is very close-mouthed. Neither Wendy nor myself get much out of him as far as where they are or what they are doing. He has only been assigned to the Miami for a couple of months. He indicated that his division did not have an excess of experienced help and that he would be working a lot during the whole deployment. This is Wendy's first 6 month deployment since they met and married. It is my third. He did two while on the Philadelphia. He's just off a shore assignment in Groton. I understand this boat will have some dry dock time in Kittery, Maine after the long deployment. J.D. has been there before and liked it a lot better than Connecticutt. He is looking forward to that - and that is one reason he chose that boat. Would love to keep in touch with all of you. I hope my daughter-in-law will joing too. Deanne
Dianne, Welcome to our little group. What is your son doing on Miami? We'd love to hear about him.
Like Lorraine, I haven't heard froom Alex since he called from Spain. He said they'd be busy and not to expect to hear from him. I also got confirmation that he's getting my e-mails, so they must be busy. I am waiting to hear from him so I can renew his registration, for his car, while he's gone. He left me a POA but not his insurance information and milage. The state of PA doesn't care, but he can't drive his car onto base with an expired registration. So, I hope I hear from him sometime soon.
