My son was on duty when the fire broke out. Thanks to Lorraine texting me to let me know about it or i probably wouldnt have heard. my son called me the next day because he was "commanded" too. I was up all night waiting to hear from him tht he was ok.
LLoves - I would love to be in that room and they should let us have first swing at that guy. he wouldnt make it out...
What a great idea for the guys punishment and maybe put that ex-girlfriend of his in there also just to add more anxiety to the room.
I know the heat must have been tremendous in there to melt a ladder. Nate was still there when the fire started and he was one of the ones to help carry the chief of the boat out when he fell and broke 6 ribs. Must have been quite an experience for all out boys.
i'm going up in august, too. my son assures me he will get his leave. they are pretty good to let them off for family visits.
i assumed this civilian would be prosecuted by the public, not the navy. i am afraid he will get to go to in-patient psyche and be out next year. :(
i sure like the idea of putting him in a room with families and firefighters! my son had just left the boat, but when they called him at home and he went outside, he could see the smoke from his yard. he lives on kittery point.
wow - hadn't heard a ladder melted. was there a problem getting out? how horrible. my son said they split them in 3 work groups, and his group was told to go sleep for 6 hrs. he was pretty lucky personally throughout. sorry for Alex!
Lloves, that must have been scary for Alex!
My son suggested that the guys punishment should be to spend 10 minutes in a room with the girlfriends and wives of the sailors and firefighters. I think he should have added Moms and Grandmothers to that list. I know I would like a wack at him.
Alex was inside Miami when the aluminum ladder melted.
I also have faith in them. Hopefully they will be able to relieve some for of our boys so they can come home on leave now. i heard that they were not able to until it was cleared up..keeping my fingers crossed.
Yes my grandson was on duty also when the fire happened. Everyone was so very lucky as this could have hurt and maybe killed some of our boys. This a very very serious offence and I have faith in the Navy that is will be handled appropriately.
hope he does. My son was on duty when the fire began. lucky nothing happened to any of our Sailors! Not a happy momma...
Could get life in prison
