USS Milius Friends & Family

The USS Milius DDG 69 Group is for Friends & Family of the members of this ship. Alii Prae Me

"Alii Prae Me" or "Others Before Myself"

I am new to the role of Navy Wife and know that there are others out there in the same boat. I was hoping we could band together and with the help of some of the experienced spouses swap tips and learn from others on the ways of being a supporting family unit for our significant other.

I want to be able to lay my husband's mind at rest and I know others out there want to show their significant other we are all not Westpac Widows, a term I heard a Chief use, who are just waiting to pen our first Dear John letter.

I would like for us to be able to lean on each other and ask questions and build friendships.

How is everyone adjusting to their spouse's or children being home? I am loving the extra time with the hubby.

I have been a Navy mom for 4 years now and never knew about this site. I am so excited that I finally found it. My dughter is on her 2nd trip out with the Milius. She invited me on the Tiger Cruise I am so super excited. I am going to buy my ticket next weekend. Is there any other Navy Moms/ Familys in Alaska?

I am brand new to this whole Navy for Moms site and I am thrilled! Was JUST reunited with my first born a little more than a month ago! I had given him up for adoption at birth(hardest decision I have EVER made)and he just found me, I am so deeply moved and grateful to be involved in his life by HIS choice~
I wish I could have made plans for this Tiger Cruise, but he informed me that he will be working the whole time and would get little to no time to spend with me. Because this is a pretty spectacular reunion I am hopeful to be there when the ship arrives in/to(?) it's home port.

I am new to all aspects to this Navy Mom 'thing' period, but I can tell you I am SO PROUD of him. I just wish I understood better about his life on board. I do get emails regularly and for that I am thrilled! Carsten is a GM2...

Hey Everyone. So I haven't been on in a while. Just wanted to see how everyone was doing. We are now past the half way point on this deployment and I couldn't be more excited. Anyone doing the TIGER Cruise?

He shows my hubby and some of his buds how he likes to dance. Cooks on the ship ALWAYS have music going and are dancing and he was talking with my hubby and just shooting the breeze and showed him his moves.
My husband is Damage Control on the ship. He wears the Fireman uniforms.
THere are a few Milius pages and the Milius Command page on facebook is the one you want. You need to send them a message saying Aaron's full name, job and your relationship and they add you and you can see meetings and they post a monthly newsletter. Its pretty neat.

Having Alec gone is hard. We just got married on Halloween but it makes us work on our comminication skills and I get to show him that I can do stuff. I have even lost 25 pounds since they left. :)

It must be very hard having a husband out there....I found the Milius on Facebook...that is interesting

I know of your son. I met him once and my hubby has talked about him a few times. Paxton likes to show his dance moves sometimes and my hubby says he is a nice guy.

Paxton is pretty much a free spirit.....he is only 19 and has a lot of growing up to do...always looks for the best in everyone and is simply too trusting....he wanted to be diver but he is of small stature and not big of muscles so he didn't make it in Great Lakes...so only way he could go at that time was culinary...he is trying to make the best of it...

Nice to meet you Priscilla. Well I know Barbara's son and my hubby are having fun tonight because they are out together. Alec called to say a group of them went out and were enjoying not being on ship for a night. My hubby is a DC. I am lucky he emails a lot. In fact I heard from him through emails for 4 hours last night. Sophi this site is okay for support but if your son's wife has facebook thee is a page called Dear Deployment, I hate you and thats great for talking about being home alone and the challenges day today and writing letters to deployment telling it how you will win.
