What is the best way to find out what is going  on in Yokosuka and Mustin? I feel very disconnected.

I stopped using this forum because it was so rarely active but if there are other moms who are interested I am open to being in conversation.

My son texts me when he can but has not been good with email. Is internet connection ever an issue?

Hi Barb

My son is on the Mustin he has been there since May 2012 and was home for 14 days over the Christmas Holiday.  It was so great to see him.  We do keep in touch through email and facebook.

Anyone else have sailor on Mustin? My son arrived in Japan in Nov 2012. Hardly ever get to talk. Very frustrating.

Hello Beth and Cookieb,

My son has been in Japan for several years and while at times due to the earthquake and such that followed he  has enjoyed getting to know more of the culture and food.  The USS MUSTIN DDG89 is a great ship part of the 7th fleet.  If they are on deployment your talks a lot of times might just be emails or letters.  And sometimes when they are on deployment their answers to letters might take a longer time to get to you.  They are 13 hrs ahead of where I am from.  I am sure your family members will have a lot to get into an d get accustomed too.  I email my son a lot but without responses because they are so busy protecting and working whatever the ship is involved in.  I am very proud of my son and everyone on his ship.  It is a great group of people and support for them is important.  I know you will be surprised at time you will get to talk to enjoy each and some are able to skype and that makes it easier too.

He'll be fine. It's an amazing country and he'll have a huge support system. It's the safest country in the world as far as crime. And the Mustin is a great ship!!!

He'll be fine. Japan is an amazing country and he will get to see alot of amazing things. AND the Mustin is great!

Hello My son just got his orders and will be joining the USS Mustin shortly.  He graduated bootcamp March 3 and I am so nervous, but he is thrilled he really wanted Japan so this has made him very happy.

My son is assigned to the USS Mustin and his flight landed in Toyko early this morning.  I wonder when I can expect a call or text that he got to the base safely.

Also, does he go directly to the ship when he gets there?  Just wanted to know what he may be going thru.
