For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

I think it is hard when your son or daughter is stationed over in another country. Some are lucky they have skype and some have phones, while others write and others just send packages and hope they will keep a phone call. It is hard on mothers because we are the ones who brought them into the world and watched and took care of them for the most part. And when they grow up and decide this is what they want to do we are the ones that have to adjust to it. While we are all proud and love them it is troubling when like Japan they have the earthquake and tsumani and then deployment for months. We pray for them and ask for God's protection over them. We go from staying up and wondering when they are coming home from school outtings or dates or parties to just hoping they are safe and will call us soon.
Our sailor was thrilled at the chance to go and says he likes it-it's just hard to be so far from home. I am thankful for Skype and that we can chat often though!

I mailed my son a package on November 15th. He has not received it yet. How long does it take?
So Happy to Hear That!!!! HAPPY THANKSGIVING TO ALL THE MEN AND WOMEN OF USS MUSTIN DDG 89 ! Love my son who is on that ship!!! Miss him so much but hopefully he will be home right after Christmas and this has been a long two years!!!!!

My son got an Iphone once he arrived in Japan- he can text etc when he is in port.
Cookieb-I am so happy for you-enjoy your time with your sailor-my sailor just arrived in Japan in Sept. so he will not be home again for a long time! I am thankful that he is doing great and we can communicate often!!
I sent his frst package out this week so we'll see how long it takes!
So basically as long as you have been there 3 months, know how to behave, and do your job properly, you get to live off ship.
To live in the barracks: you must be a current Blue Card holder and an E-4 under four years of Naval service or junior.
Anyone over E4/ 4 years lives off base. ;)
To get Blue Card:
- Sailor has been aboard for three months.
- Attended Intercultural Relations (ICR) training.
- Attended “How to Behave in Japan” workshop.
- Attended Prevent, Alcohol Aware or other sanctioned Navy alcohol training program.
- Passed most recent Physical Fitness Assessment (PFA).
- Demonstrates sustained superior work performance.
- Maintains proper grooming, uniform and civilian clothing standards.
- Understands and adheres to the Right Spirit Program.
- Not a Liberty Risk candidate within the past 90 days.
- No disciplinary action such as DRB, XOI or Captain’s Mast, in the last six months.
- No Blue Liberty Card revocation in the last six months.
