They are actually in port in Okinawa. As for the boxes, unless you insured them there is really no way to track them after they reach the APO in San Francisco. A lot of stuff does get lost. Hopefully he'll get the other box soon!

My daughter is going to Newport too. I got an email from her on Saturday. She didn't say much but I know that they're going to have to fly from the ship and get to a port where they'll then fly right to Newport without being able to go home at all. So her phone is still in Japan. This has been a hard time for all of them. Thank God they're young. I haven't heard much so I think the email is limited and intermittent. Hang in there. I do know that they got to go swimming in the South China Sea.

Last time she sent an email she said she thought they'd be back to Yoko soon. I just emailed her to see if she could tell me anything. I'll post anything I find out.

no, but I'm going to see if my daughter will email me. She usually tells me she can't tell me.

I think we can send things to the sailors. I asked my daughter if I could do a clothes drive at work and then send the things for the people on the ship. She said it's too complicated to send things for the refugees. They don't really have a way to transfer clothes. She asked me to send her a towel as she gave one of hers away. I'm sending sweats and winter things to her for her. And she's said that anything I send she may give away. At least I feel like I'm doing SOMETHING!!

Hello Everyone!  My daughter, Joy, is aboard the Mustin.  She just mailed us her Blue Jacket of the Quater FY2011 Award.  Thanks to Navy4Moms I was able to figure out what this was!

Thank you for providing this forum! I have just joined and have a son on the Mustin. Here is an update from Facebook this morning.

https://www.facebook.com/USNavy

I am so proud of all our sailors but of course have been worried for them too.

I am very sorry for the people of Japan too who are suffering.  Hope things are better soon.

I got an email from my daughter this morning. She says they're fine. They've all donated all the extra clothing, blankets and whatever else they have with them to the relief effort, even her high school blanket! She says this has really pulled them all together as a team. She also said that the radiation problem is less than we are hearing on the news. I have been terribly worried about that in particular. I felt better this morning. My thoughts and prayers are with you all and all of those serving as well as the Japanese people.
