Hi, my sailor left Norfolk a week ago for the Nitze, and while I was hoping that I'd hear that he got to the ship safely... looks like that's not the way it's done. I'm assuming no news is good news,…Continue

Welcome aboard, Jakesmom!!
@ Robyn...most all the Sailors were filled with mixed emotions...it's deployment. Yes, they are well trained in every scenario, but, it's fear of the 'unknown', plus the thought of being on a ship far away from home for so long. Trust me, I gave him an "air hug" from you. Hang in there, darlin'...you know he loves you, you're his Mom.<3
Monday was definitely the hardest day ever. I was so strong, while my sailor wept, hugged him 'see you later', even while waiting on the pier before they left. Loved raising the colors, festivities on the quarterdeck, manning the rails-so impressive. We took tons of pics, got to wave to him, throw kisses, the bowlines were taken up, he went inside...as the ship pulled away...that's when I totally lost it!!!
Hello Ladies, My son will be joining the Nitze in a couple weeks. He has been on the Bataan up until now. I guess the Nitze was short in damage control. I am scared, sad and excited. He is coming home for a short visit before he joins the ship.
Hiya, Cindy!!! Small world, for sure. We need to get everyone else over here :)
