Good Morning, Having a son to deploy is a first time experience for me and I could really use some help from other moms and dads. He will be reporting to the USS O'Kane on June 3rd. Any and all information would be helpful to me. Thank You!

@NWDucky There are two leave periods, one for Christmas, and one for New Years. They break it up by division so about half and half, but I know in my husband's work center there are only like 2 or 3 guys left out of about 8-10, so I think it just depends on what leave period they choose.

Does anyone know of the odds of our sailors being able to come home for Christmas?  My sons always hope to make it home--but this is my O'Kane's son's first ship assignment after A and C schools.  I was wondering if this was like every other place of business in the world--seniority gets preference on vacation choices.
