My son tried to sound like it didn't bother him at all. But I know him well, and I could tell. He said as long as I know you guys are ok I can hang!! Maybe we want have to wait to much longer. Here is hoping ladies!!!

Of course, you immediately picture that sign that says "what, me worry?" I did not tealize that I had not properly set my privacy settings, and also that you are not supposed to have a picture of your sailor for your profile, so I now have me with my oldest daughter. We need a new pic for her, she started going to weight watchers and has lost over 50 pounds! Soon she will be as little as her sister!

Anyway, I got a phone call tonight, she sounds pretty good and says 'I'm fine, not fine, but well, you know...' I asked her if there was crying when they were told and she laughed a little and said she never heard any crying but a lot of whining...I guess I would whine too if I thought I was finally able to go be with people I really wanted to be with and it was cut short!!!!

Omg, I am the same way! I check my email about 4-6 times a day!! Sometimes I can hit just at the right time and we email back and forth like we are texting! I did finally get the call about the change in plans, but she sounded good albeit very tired! Yes, they sure do keep them busy! I was 'liking' so many of your responses as if I was on FB!! She got her mail, but I am shipping the one I didn't send, because she is out of personal stuff . I am having a hard time with my relatively new phone so I don't always get notifications and such, but the posts have been a very interesting read!

Jes you are so right. It's the last thing I look at and first thing. Sometimes I hear he messages but I get a lot of other messages from other people and it was keeping me up. But I do look at my phone if I am awake and have had long email conversations with him in the middle of the night and I don't care if I don't get sleep. It makes my day every time I get one. It's quite a bit which I am thankful for. They just can't tell you much but it is what it is.

Mine described it as a 200 day work week

My son told me that they stay so busy during deployment that the days just run together, so I guess the time does go by fast. He didn't seem upset about the extension when he messaged me, just very matter of fact. I hope they will get more leave time for when they come home after deployment. They definitely deserve it! This is a long one!

One thing you get used to doing: waking up at 3:30 am to see if he sent you a message. It's always a good day when that happens!!

Well they do get to use Facebook and email so that helps a lot. I have always talked to my son on a daily basis until deployment so that was hard but after a bit yoy ger use to it. They stay super busy and don't have much time to chat but at least they can send messages back and forth even if it's short. He chats with me about every other day so pretty good. You won't hear from him for about a week or two when they first leave but after that you will. And when they port they can video call you through Skype or call through Facebook. :) I think it's harder on us that are home. He says it goes fast.

thanks for the info ladies! So happy to hear he really likes the people in charge! That is always a good thing.. He has not been deployed yet. We were apart while he was in school for 9 months. They finally let the family come join him when he started C school. I know that is definitely not the same thing as deployment.. I'm sure communication is much less!
