So I wonder if this means the ship will hit a port?? Would be nice for our sailors to get a break.... Normally they will not fly a sailor out to a small ship they will meet them in a port. That is how my husband met the ship over a month ago.... Cross finger so the men and women get a much needed break.

I send a letter with the date inside every box. The first few were received in 2-3 wks. FYI, one item was very appreciated: sanitary wipes. They don't have them on the ship. Son said they used them to wipe down their equiptment, monitors, etc. Esp. when there was a bug going through the ship. This latest box I sent Lysol wipes and generic ones also. Instructed him to "share"!

hi all;
I mailed a package to my son 9/1 and he got it sometime last week. As of Sunday the 18th he had not recieved, but he said he did receive it today's email. So that package took 3 to almost 4 weeks to get to him. I will be sending another package this week. I mark the date I send on the bottom of the package in permanent marker.

Julie B, Well as you know I cannot tell you when they will return but I can tell you we have recently hit the half way mark. The mail defines the term snail mail LOL... It is taking like 4 to 5 weeks from what I have been told for mail to reach them. I sent a card 3 weeks ago and he still has not got it. I am sure he will love a feel from home with some home baked cookies. Keep your head high and know you are just as much in his heart and he is in yours, I am sure. Hold in there as they will be back with us soon.

Thanks, jet. Just not used to going this long w/o any word. So helps when you gals post that all is well! I know they are very busy as son said as much last time he called. I'm still not sure when this deployment is over.
Just sent two more boxes. One with homemade cookies that I hope aren't stale by the time he gets them!

Julie B, I am very sorry to hear that you have not heard from him in a while. Hang in there and know that they are all well but very tired and working long hours. I will not tell you how to feel because I could only imagine if my sailor did not call or email. I was concerned after 2 days. However, I was able to use this site to inform myself and that made me feel better. Just remember we are almost done with this deployment. Everyone have a great and safe week.

I haven't heard anything for weeks. No email, no calls.
Glad to hear everything is ok.

Gen, I am so happy to hear that your sailor called you.... I know the feeling when you pick up the phone and you get that 30 second delay, your heart just melts when you hear their voice come over and say hello!!! That is the best part.... Everyone have a great week and keep on smiling we are almost done with this.
