Ellen, Hope you have a wonderful trip. Last time we talked to our sailor, he wants to come home ASAP. So we will wait for him in Chicago!

Hey everyone, happy mothers day to all the awesome women on the board. I haven't said much out here but thought I would let everyone know emails are being sent and received. My kiddo sent me a message thus morning.

Kindest regards,

Margaret

Happy Mother's Day All!  I was hoping for an email, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen.  Everyone enjoy the day...it is finally Sunny and semi-warm here in Michigan...

He did call back at around 7:30am.  It was great to hear from him.  Still pretty bummed about not being able to work out.  That will happen after he qualifies which he is hoping for  in about two weeks.  He said has grown a mustache! I told him he better take a picture. His dad had a mustache all of our married lives (30 years) until just last year...Myles was surprised at the number of "working" girls...info I didn't want to hear, though I trust him! ;)

Well dang! I left my cell phone downstairs when I went to bed and thought I heard a beep or two...I missed a call from Myles!  He said he didn't know what time it was here (3:40am) but he would try to call again when he found out the time difference.  At least I have a voice mail to listen to for awhile so I can hear his voice!

boy, they must have got access to email at the same time.  We just "heard" from Myles today too.  He didn't mention his quals so that must not have happened for him yet.  we have been having issues with my mom, so he commented on that.  We also just bought a little cottage in Alpena, MI right on Lake Huron and he was saying maybe he could help us with the electrical! Yeah...Not going to be able to make the trip with my mom issues...sigh

Hi Everyone, We got a long email from Jeff, too! Since these emails are rare, we were glad to hear that things are going well and he is busy. He is hoping to have all his quals finished in 4 weeks. Hope you are all well!

Thanks Kathleen! I like that someone hears from their son at least once a week or so even if we don't hear from our own...it is reassuring and I find it easier going about my days without worrying...

Peggy, Congrats on receiving an email! When they get all their qualifications (quals) finished (sign-offs and tests) then they are awarded a Dolphin (fish) pin that they are a qualified submariner. It is a big deal and they are no longer a low-life rookie but a full-fledged member of the crew!!

Hey, Rhonda, Just received an email from Myles and he too is doing well with this quals. Could you explain to me what this actually means and what getting the "fish" means too??? I know Myles said at one point, but I can't seem to remember...the best part of his email besides the above, was he said time was moving fast and couldn't believe it was the end of March...yeah!
