My daughter just called me this morning.  They were delayed for some reason.  She said everything was fine.  She finally received 3 more boxes.  I guess the mail finally caught up with them.  I asked her about her sheets and she said they were fine for now.  Good to hear from her again.

I think Navy issue might be scratchy or something.  After reading the comment about sending sheets I asked my son if he wanted any.  He kind of liked that idea. If nothing else he gets his own style.  Now I get to guess what style he would like.

Do they need sheets? Doesn't the Navy give them sheets, pillows, covers?

Comment by ReeRee on October 29, 2012 at 5:50am

AlexMom - I always buy regular twin size sheets. They work just fine. I know you can purchase special 'rack' sheets online but I've never felt the need.

Someone on here said she/he send sheets to their sailor.  What size sheets do they use?  I get the impression extra long cot size...Where do you find those?

Well my son and 5 others should have finally made it to the PH sometime  Saturday night their time. They were stuck in D.C. an extra day after two different planes the sat on for 3 hours didn't take off. My son said it was all good because the airline put them up in a nice hotel and they went to a breakfast buffet (compliments of the airline also) before going to bed and catching up on his sleep. He left Hawaii Wed. night so he's been traveling the last 3+ days. That must be grueling even if you're young. He did get a chance to get to know the 5 other sailors going to his ship so at least he won't show up not knowing anyone.

She said homemade cookies were stale - it took so long to get to them - but they ate them anyway...and the bag of chips I sent busted open - pressurized bags don't take the shipping very well.  Hopefully, when they get settled, they will get things faster and more regular.  Just a heads up if you are sending home made cookies or bags that are pressurized.

My daughter just called.  So glad to hear from her.  They are doing fine.  She said the internet is up again.  But we won't get calls from them for quite a while since they will be traveling again.  She finally received 1 box out of the 4 we sent her.  Hopefully the other 3 will catch up with her today.
