Oh that sounds nice.  If I get to HI I will have to stay at least a day there.  My son mentioned something about sending me tickets and his apt key,  I would get there a few days ahead of them and open up his apt.  For a trip to HI and a chance to see my son I'm willing.  Like I haven't been his maid most of his life.

My sailor even met us there and stayed a couple of days with us - enjoyed the pool, restaurants, and shopping.  Said it was a vacation for them too.  Even though they are on the water all of the time, it is not the same as staying at a hotel, swimming, getting a massage and just relaxing away from everything.  Makes me want to go back...have fun!

Hale Koa Hotel was the best - right on Wakiki Beach - great prices and beautiful.

Your sailor has to  sign you in to get a card to carry with you for access  - but you get great prices and are not charged any tax - since it is a Military Hotel.  Beautiful gardens, restaurants, pools, and everything about it was just beautiful.  You will love it.  Six of us went and stayed in 3 hotel rooms and everybody said it was the best place to be in Hawaii.  Just go on internet and you can see if any rooms are available.  All rooms have great views to the ocean.  Also, while in Hawaii, make sure you do a luau at Germaine's - it is the best on the island.  Have fun!  We went last year June 2012.  Would love to go back to the same hotel.

Of course, we went when they were not deployed and my sailor met us at the hotel and signed us all in.  Maybe you could get a cheap room somewhere until your sailor arrives and can sign you in.  It would be worth it.

My daughter called yesterday.  She was doing great.  Said we all should hear more from them real soon.  I was glad to talk to her and hear her voice.

I couldn't find AT&T international calling cards - so I just bought a regular International calling card (you can buy them from Kroger or Walmart) and sent it to my daughter.  She said it worked fine.

They can't give us dates they are returning because I don't think they even know yet.  But they can't tell us even if they know.  It is kinda frustrating because you don't know when and can't make plans.  And it is cheaper to do it as early as you can.
