Can anyone point me in the right direction to receive the emails and pictures from the ombudsman. This is my son Casey's first deployment and this is all really new for us. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated! Any news is good news when you are waiting.

Hi, all!  We got a call from Kyle today, but lost the connection before we could say much.

We had news from the ombudsman several times during his last deployment on the BonHomme Richard, we haven't heard anything on this deployment except email from him and the short call today.

Thought everyone should know about the USS Reagan sailor from Texas who lost his whole family in an accident in Tucson on their way to greet him when the Reagan came back from deployment! It happened last week and the bodies haven't been released yet because ID couldn't be confirmed without DNA. Just pray for him and hope he has other family to be with him.  He does have his RR buddies with him in Texas right now, I understand.

Heard from our son this morning by email.  He got his package last night.  So it took almost, but not quite 2 weeks to get it.

Yes, my son was on a military base in kuwait for his first deployment and then on the BonHomme Richard last time.  Then last year he changed commands, but didn't leave Coronado and was assigned to the Stennis.  Then, right before deployment he was moved to the Pinckney because they needed his qualifications for mantainance  over there. Or that is my understanding.  He has always been in San Diego after boot camp and Pensacola.

Why am I just getting all this information after being a navy mom for nearly 7 years?  Oh, yeah---I just joined Navymoms!  :)

I just received an email from my son and he received the package.  Yea!!

Thanks for the rack pack link.

I sent my son a box on the 26th of August and he hasn't receive it yet.

What are rack packs?

Comment by Cece on September 7, 2011 at 12:58pm
Those must be the same boxes we get at the post office.  We have to fill out paperwork telling what is in it.  I don't know about the cost because my husband does the mailing.

Heard from our son this morning,  called at 6:15 am!  He sounded good and was on shore.  He still hasn't gotten the package we mailed last week, but thinks it takes around a week and a half or two weeks to get mail.

He said they worked one night all night on deck during a tropical storm doing helicopter maintenance. Oh, well!  It's good to be young! :)
