Good Morning,
I am so glad I found this group! I have a question in regards to communication , how do you send a letter to your sailor, does a ship has an address? do they need to live the port in order to receive the letter or they only receive while still at the port?
Is there a chance to talk to them if they are at sea?
Thank you so much for any information
Thank you so much
Hi Ladies,
I just found this site and am so glad! my son deployed in early June. I have had limited communication from him, but would like the address to send him a package if you have it to share...he was supposed to send it, but I am just glad to hear from him when he can email me! thank you!
Hi shanesmom1,
I sent you a private message with the address. Also, remember that we can only send letters/packages USPS since the address is a FPO (foreign post office) box.
My son is a GM... I wonder if they know each other.

Hi shanesmom1. My son is on the Princeton as well. I'm not sure what your son has packed away to prepare for the deployment, but I know they need to get pretty much all of their toiletries and bedding on their own (they are only given a scratchy wool blanket). I can let you know what my son has brought with him: sleeping bag to make the bunk softer and for when they're in a cold area, laundry soap, green tea (apparently it goes fast in the cafeteria), razors, tooth paste, deoderant, nice headphones to listen to his laptop (he downloaded a bunch of movies and music before he left), and an extension cord since the outlet on his bunk is right above his head (he's on a bottom bunk). Any one of those items might help, if he doesn't have them already. As you know, they have virtually no storage space, so it makes it difficult to send them much. Just avoid sending chocolates. I tried that once and they were melted by the time my son got them. The packages I've sent him take about 6 weeks to get to him and they are first sent to Chicago before they're sent to the ship. Hope that helps.
What position is your son? My son is a GM.
Regards,
Msrec
