Loving a Sailor isn't much fun
but its worth the price when the battle is won.
And remember he's thinking of you every day,
he's sad and he's lonely while so far away.
So love him and miss him and hold your head high,
Be strong and have faith, wipe that tear from your eye.
Your man's a seafarer, like that old ancient trader,
It's a high price you pay for loving a Sailor!

We have our plane tickets and the hotel, now all we have to do is......WAIT!

How is everybody doing lately? I know I haven't been on here much, really haven't taken the time to sit and look on this thing. I've been working crazy hours. With the holidays just around the corner our store is very busy. I'll try to keep in touch a little more.

Hang in there everyone...we are over halfway there!! :)

God bless

Thank you all for the info, it helps alot! I'm looking to book our rooms this week and get the airline tickets in order so I don't have to worry about this anymore. Thanks again! Hope to see all of you there.

There's a whole row of hotels on Roosevelt street its about 5 minutes away from the base.  Theres a Super 8, Howard Johnson, and a Days Inn i think on that street.  I live in the LA area and go visit when i get a day off work during the week so i stay at the Howard Johnson or Super 8 usually.  The price range is about 55-80 a night.  I usually make my reservation on wyndhamrewards.com. I get the very basic and its usually 57 a night. If you want something a bit nicer there is a best western about 3 miles away.  As far as flights, the best experience i've had flying would be southwest.  When my hubby was in Illinois i traveled every 2 months and always used southwest.  I have changed my dates before with them with no extra charge and never purchased any type of insurance.  I've always purchased the "want to get away" tickets and have gotten great deals.  As far as packages i've sent them pretty regularly and he's enjoyed them very much.  Lately he's being dying of boredom so i've downloaded a lot of new movies like Thor, Captain america, x-men, and just put them on dvd's.  they ARE bootleg lol but i'm sure he doesn't mind.  I will definitely be there with all of his best friends to greet him.  Hope this helps.

Well as far as the hotel i believe there is a travel lodge close by 32nd street.  unfortuently you cant stay at the navy lodge without the active duty member.  as far as the plane tickets i cant stress to you how important the insurance is because the mission can always change and they cant get extended or come home early.

So did everyone get to talk to their sailor??  It sure was nice to hear his voice!

Well Ladies we are half way there...we've come this far, we can do the rest of it!  I sent out another package a few days ago hope it gets to him this weekend.  How are all of you doing with packages?  I know my son is enjoying the goodies.

So how many of you are going to be there when they return?  Are we all gonna meet somewhere? My hubby and I are planning on being there but we are wondering if there is a hotel that you all know of that is cheap and close?  Depending upon the hotel room price is how long we are gonna stay in SD.  It will be the first time we have flown out of our comfort zone.  Airline tickets have gone down in price a little bit.  When do you think is a good time to book a flight? And should I get insurance with it? I know some of you have been doing this longer then me and have been out there before or you live in SD. I need some great advice, please!!!!

Thanks Ladies, you are all wonderful

LOL more like his sanity anchor while he starts getting cabin fever.

Hello!  Been with the Rentz for a little under 4 years now and sadly will be leaving for our next command soon...but still wanted to reach out and participate until that time.  This is my hubby's first command and am very proud that he's fought his way from an E1 to E5 during that time =)

Hi Steph!!!
