Loving a Sailor isn't much fun
but its worth the price when the battle is won.
And remember he's thinking of you every day,
he's sad and he's lonely while so far away.
So love him and miss him and hold your head high,
Be strong and have faith, wipe that tear from your eye.
Your man's a seafarer, like that old ancient trader,
It's a high price you pay for loving a Sailor!

Does anyone know if the email is down again? My son and his girl broke up after a 2 1/2 yr. relationship, I've been emailing him to find out how he is and he won't respond. I know he works hard but he always took time to write. Thanks

Patty M---welcome to the group, always up for another member :) Yes, we can send them packages, I believe they will receive them when they pull into a port. So don't send anything that can spoil. It could be a week or two before they get it. What does your son do? And how is he liking it out there?

babrams---I'm very sad about the news, the ship is losing a good man! Can't he retract it? Join the reserves to stay active in the Navy? I was looking forward to meeting you and your family in Nov. :(  I hope that he finds what he is looking for and takes the knowledge that he has obtained and use it to better himself. Good luck to him and tell him thank you from all of us.

Hi all - I've not been on here for awhile I was on vacation. While I was gone I got a call from my son and he will officially be out of the Navy on July 22nd. He had filed papers to get out with an honorable discharge as a noncombatant almost a yr. ago now he's having second thoughts b/c he really liked being trained as an HM. (Tina -He really loved working with your husband) I am so excited to finally be able to have him home but I'm also a bit sad that I won't have the Navy connection that I've had with all of you.

Got an email from my kiddo yesterday, sounds like they had a wonderful holiday! The captain let them have swim time and a BBQ. My son said he had ribs, corn on the cob, beans and ice cream for dessert. Best meal he has eaten so far. He also said jumping off the ship into the water and feeling nothing under you, but the power of the ocean was awesome. Something he will never forget. Then to have to climb the ropes to get back up was tiring, he managed to do it three times. lol  Well at least it's not all work for them...

About the Ombudsman--they said they were looking for a President someone was moving, I got it in an email. IDK!!

DB-- if it's you, that's awesome!! And let me tell you that you are doing a great job of it! Thank you. If I was in SD I would love to help. So I would say you are a pretty seasoned vet at this...lol

The hubby and I would love to live around military families. Help support each other when in need. We sure don't get it where we live now :(  Our son wants us to move out there, but having a place to live is an issue. I would pack up what little I needed and just go, but I don't think they allow sleeping on the beaches or park benches :D  So we will be there in Nov. when they return, with my sign and flag in hand!
