Hi, Debbie!

Thanks for the welcome!  Thanks to all btw.  Nick is an EN engineman/fire fighter.  I guess our guys will probably work close together... ? I think.  He's now going to C school in San Diego before we head to Norfolk!  LOL  The Navy is already keeping me on my toes!  Is going "under way" when they just go out for a little while (less than 3 months)?

Well, I am learning that everything truly is subject to change anytime!  We're still going to Norfolk and he is still assigned to the Ross, but they've decided to send Nick to C school in San Diego first. So, it's going to be February before we get to Norfolk.  I don't know yet if he'll join them then or get leave time first.  I have no idea if they are even out that long.  How long are they gone typicaly each year?

My daughter is on The Ross.  She has assigned since last June but joined it mid-deployment in Sept.  There are good and bad days.  Just keep a positive attitude.  There is an FRG group for The Ross that keeps family informed of events and happenings.

Hi, everyone!  I'm Tabitha and my husband, Nick, was just assigned to the USS Ross!  I'm so excited to get settled into Norfolk as soon as he gets done with A school!  But, I'm also nervous because reality is starting to sink in and I'm not sure I'm ready for this.  Any advice would be awesome!  Thanks!

Hi Shelly, welcome to the group!  We aren't as active as some but I do try to check in every so often.  Do you know when your daughter will actually go on board.  I can tell my daughter to keep an eye out for her.  My daughter is in ops now.  She is also the Legal Officer on the ship.

Hi Noe, Welcome to the group.  A Tiger cruise is usually only after a long deployment or every couple of years.  Of course, when you visit your sailor, they can take you on board and give you a tour.  My daughter brought me on the ship a couple weekends before the Tiger cruise.  It is so awesome.  Is your sailor enlisted or an officer?  My daughter was a new ensign last June.  Joined the ship mid deployment in Sept.

Hi Travis' Bear Gramma, the pics are awesome!  I haven't tried to put mine up, I have a hard time, it takes me forever.  Maybe when my other sailor is home over Easter, he can do it for me!  I remember seeing you guys.  We spent a lot of time on the bridge and roaming all over.  Our daughter wasn't on the ship as she had to take some classes.  She is finishing up this week and will be back on Ross Monday.   I would love to go again!

Hi Ladies, went on the Tiger Cruise this past week and we loved it.  Had a great time, all the sailors were very helpful and very willing to talk about their duties.

Hi Christains Mom, I am getting this info from my daughter.  I just yesterday got an email from the Ombudsman that details are stilling being finalized.  rossombudsman@gmail.com   There is an meeting in VA 5MAR from 1:30 to 3:00 with info on Tiger Cruise, Family Day Cruise, upcoming deployment schedule etc. You have to get yourself to Boston-don't know where exactly- and you go on the ship from there to Norfolk.  I asked the ombud to email me the info from the meeting and she also said my daughter would get the info then.  Doesn't leave much time to make travel arrangements!
