My son will be joining the Ross in April.  He'll be on the other side of the country from me, but I'm hoping he has a great experience.  Does anyone have any info for me?  Is there a deployment planned for the near future, or is there no way of knowing?  Thanks, I'm new to this :)

Your daughter helped us get the paperwork done for me to have POA for Nick!!!  She's really great!  That was a big help to us.  She didn't happen to graduate from the Academy last year did she?

Hi navywife, I do live in Pa so I can't help with Dr. appts.  My daughter is the legal officer and also has the job of first lieutenant. She is an Ensign and will become Lt JG in mid May.  They are really busy with trying to pass inspections.  My daughter said she doesn't get home til between 7 and 8 pm

Thanks, Colleen!  I'm on Xanthe's email list, but I'm having trouble reaching her.  I'm looking to meet some other wives in the Norfolk/VB area from the Ross.  I could really use some help getting rides to my doctor appointments.  I can't drive right now and my hubs is the new AC and R engineman which seems to keep him busy 24/7... that last part maybe a frustrated over exaggeration! LOL

Does anyone know if there is a current FRG on the Ross?  If so, how do I get involved?

Thanks ~ Tabitha

Hi Beth, the ship is currently in the yards getting repairs/maintence done, I think til March sometime. I was on the Ross for a Tiger cruise almost a yr ago(already)  It is a nice ship.  Small enough that it doesn't take long to learn your way around!  I think new sailors can request a sponsor and that person would help with what your daughter may need for life aboard a ship. If you google Uss Ross and towards the left, click on the "welcome" tab, you'll see a link about a sponsor.

HI, My name isBeth and my daughter Jennifer will be joining the USS Ross mid March.  She has been in Guam since Dec 2011.  I am thrilled that she will be on the east coast sinece I am in FL, but concerned regarding "ship life".  Any comments/suggestions would be helpful!  Thank you

Hello Carol!   The Ross is my daughter's first ship.  She joined it mid deployment last yr.  They went on several underways after they got back but now it is in for maintenance and they will be in port for a while. We got all her things moved to the house this past Monday.  It was a lot of work.  Now she just has to put it all away!  Lindsay is an Electronics Warfare Officer. She has 2 jobs. She is kept very busy.
