For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

**UPDATE 4/26/2022** Effective with the May 6, 2022 PIR 4 guests will be allowed. Still must be fully vaccinated to attend.
**UPDATE as of 11/10/2022 PIR vaccination is no longer required.
**UPDATE 7/29/2021** You now must be fully vaccinated in order to attend PIR:
In light of observed changes and impact of the Coronavirus Delta Variant and out of an abundance of caution for our recruits, Sailors, staff, and guests, Recruit Training Command is restricting Pass-in-Review (recruit graduation) to ONLY fully immunized guests (14-days post final COVID vaccination dose).

So when are the underways? I know it is going to be about a year before deployment, but when are they at sea for exersizes?

My daughter just finished Boot Camp and is headed to San Diego she will be on the USS Rushmore. She just called me this week and said she being deployed but doesn't know where or when yet. I was trying to get used to the idea of her being on the west coast, I didn't think she would be deplyed so soon. Does anyone know where or when?

Welcome to the USS Rushmore. They do go on deployment on Sept. 17. That could change, as things seem to do with the military. They should be gone for 7 months. They will do a West Pac tour. Not much danger.

That makes me feel better. So, being new to this and all, I have a few questions. Should I activate her phone for international before she goes, or just buy international calling cards? Also is there anything we should know before she goes? She is reporting to her duty station in about two weeks.

Bethhc- good question about the phone! I don't know the answer... this will be my son's first deployment. I don't think they get to use the phone much, as they are out at sea where there are no signals. Can any of you who have experienced this answer this?

It is my understanding that phones won't work where they are going. There might be a satellite phone for emergencies. My daughter and I do connect via email when she is out, but never by phone. It is a special email address, so she initiated and now I can simply reply anytime she is at sea.

FYI, there are not doing a West Pac duty, they are being deployed to the Persian Gulf, I just found out yesterday, there is danger there.

That isn't entirely true. They are doing a West Pac and the Persian Gulf is one small part of it. They drop off Marines and such. No land duty there. It is as safe as any military can be in the area. Hope this helps.
