It has been a long time since I have been on this site. Is there any way of knowing the schedule of the rushmore? My daughter is on board. Looking forward to getting to know you all and sharing information!

They have been coming and going a lot in readiness for their September deployment. They just left again today for two weeks. My daughter is even missing her brothers wedding with this underway.

Oh ok thanks. Sry I'm new to all this. Last question - if you wanted to write a letter to someone on the ship how would it be addressed?

Rank, Last name, First name

Deck, Division

USS Rushmore LSD-47

FPOAP-96677-1736

Two weeks ago you said they would be back from their underway. Still havent heard anything from my gf since 30th of may when they left for that previous underway. Should I be worried?

Don't be worried. I know they are all super busy and don't have much time off. They have been back. I have talked with my daughter some. As a matter of fact, we were texting yesterday. Have you tried calling or texting? It does take a while to hear back sometimes, but they do usually get back to us. Ask about the family cruise day. I know it is coming up in August. Great way to see them off before they are deployed in September.

Good luck.

I've left many texts n voicemails. When she left everything was great. I thought for sure id have heard from her by now. My mind is now playing tricks on me n making me think the worst. Like maybe she's ignoring me :( hate this

I am so sorry. I know there is a big adjustment period. I also know that life on the ship is really crazy right now. Big inspections and such in preparation for the deployment. When they all got back this last time most of them had to stay on the ship. My daughter was fortunate enough to be one that was allowed off. I get little bits and pieces right now.

I pray you hear something soon from your loved one. Just know that the military owns them right now and that supercedes everything else right. I understand where you are at. I have been there many times. As a matter of fact, I just now am starting to hear from my daughter again.

Good luck. I hope you can make the family cruise day and see your loved one face to face. It is August 8th, btw.

Thank you so much. Your words are very comforting. I'm struggling to remember all tha and not get overcome by worry/stress. that cruise sounds great but I don't have any idea what that means? Do we all get to see them on their ship and for how long? Is it family only? And considering its july 4 now..won't I get to see her (god willing ) before that?

I don't know if you will get to see her before August 8th. Each one is different as to time off. The August 8th cruise, as I understand it is...family only, on the ship and out to sea for a cruise from 8 am until 4 pm (if it is like I was told a few months ago). The sailor has to rsvp for us. We can't just show up.

Hope this helps and that you can make it. Perhaps we will meet.

Does anyone know if they would have time off to see us before their deployment in September. I don't know if I can swing the August 8th cruise, she just got there in the beginning of July and I just found out.We live on the East Coast and I have another daughter in college with tuition coming due, summer and fall. She did mention the tiger cruise which is at the end but I thought if I could swing it I would go and see her off, but it is a lot of money and time to spend if we can't spend some of it with her.I am so lost here, I have no idea what is going on. She still isn't checked into the ship yet, no email address, no card for buying anything on the ship.  She said they have been so busy they haven't had to time.

My daughter will be joining the fleet October 10th.  I hear they are currently on underway. Does anyone know when they will be returning?  She will be in the Navy for two years and this is her first fleet. She's excited. Mom's nervous.  Can anyone tell me how often this ship deploys or what I should expect. Looking for information.  Thank you:)

Patty- they just left for a 6-8 month deployment. It is my son's first deployment as well. He joined the Rushmore in January.
