Did anyone get an email about visiting our sailors at the next port?  I just read one today and it was a reminder email.  I don't think I got the first one.

I heard from Aaron yesterday and it does sound like everything is going well.  We did have another snow day yesterday in MA, then it turned to rain, then back to snow this morning!  Now the sun is out.  I had a half day at work, so I came home early.

Good Morning To All, I just go back from my parents last night. The good news is that N.J. was finally spared of a snow storm this week. We pretty much rec'd all rain, not to much ice. It was a relief for a change. I re'cd an e-mail from Christopher.I guess I can finally say that the Navy has turned my very sensative son into the "Man" they want him to be. He said this past year has been really hard on him being so far away from family, and during the communication silent periods,he has finally learned how to control his sensative emotions that use to come pouring out of him. I want you all to know, his last 2 e-mails, he has assured me not to worry, that everything on the boat is going well and in this last e-mail, he said "Most" of the guys are very supportive of each other. So with all this being said, I know how much we can all be so proud of our "Son's" working side by side.I hope you & your families are doing well, but know that our prayers are with the ones who are struggling.God Bless Everyone.

Deborah, of course J knows you care. They all know how much we love and care for them.. It is a fine line with the DIL's and GF's that we all have to relate and deal with.If they only realized how important it is for everyone's safety to volunteer important information to us all that is vital to their husbands, son's and BF's well being, and not with hold the info.for their own reasons, then we would know what to say and what not to say, we would all be in great shape!! If we all only knew before the fact, instead of after the fact, then our sailors would be in a better position of being even safer. OK girls, I won't be in touch for a couple of days. The weather forcast looks terrible for the next couple of days, so I will be staying at my parents. Love To You All.Stay Safe

My mom feels pretty good and she still has a good attitude. She had the appointment this last Friday. We won't get the results until tomorrow or Tuesday. I just got an email from J and he said he hasn't gotten any of our email. He also said I wouldn't hear from him for a while :(. I am sad about the loss of contact but I guess maybe he will get our emails. Maybe. I will ask my DIL to forward the letter to me. I am glad you told me what it was about. I think I am so worried that I will say something wrong that I don't ask any questions at all. My poor son probably thinks I don't care!

Hi Deborah, How is your Mom? Did she have the cardioligist appointment last Friday, or is it this Friday coming up? The Awareness letter was e-mailed through the phone tree line. It was not an emergency like Colleen stated, BUT making us all aware of the how dangerous communication could be with our sons via Skype, phone, internet, & text with all the many potential professional hackers looking, listening and waiting for that right moment.  We should never disclose or talk about their where abouts when they make Port. We should not put countdowns or number of days left. I would be more than happy to forward it to you. If your DIL has your personal e-mail, she could do it.But if you rather it be sent by one of us, just give us your e-mail in one of our in-box's. If anything else comes through, then it would be easy to just forward it your direct line. Colleen, my sister who takes care of my parents has her degree in Special Ed. She hasn't taught in that field in a very long time. She took time off to raise her kids, and now she is our main family member that takes care of my parents. She's an absolute "Saint'. I am sure Aaron did very well. I will make sure I say an extra prayer for him. Why isn't he sleeping well, did he say why? My mistake on the Nor'easter. I just listened to the weather, and it's all coming from the West this time. A lot of "ICE" UGH!!!! Take care Everyone.

Debra, I did get it,but I don't remember much of what it said.  There was no bad news or emergencies.  I think it talked about sending mail to the boys. I'll look it over again and let you know.  I've been in school all weekend.  I'm in a cohort program that meets two weekends per course.  I did it this weekend and will do the next (February) in Cambridge, MA. It takes me an hour to get there by car and train.  I am thinking about getting a license for Special Ed since I've been working in special ed for four years now.  Special ed is a high need field now.  I love what I do!

I heard from Aaron today. He said he hasn't been sleeping well.  He was observed by a higher up and did very well!  He said he usually messes up because he is so nervous.  This time he kept his thoughts positive and repeat Bible verses over and over.  I can't wait to see him in a few months.

Another nor'easter?  Wow.  It's like one a week now!  Well, we have no control over that so we might as well go with flow and accept what is.  I think we'll be more peaceful that way.

For those of us who didn't get the Awareness letter, is there anything you can tell us?
Comment by JerseySusan on January 30, 2011 at 5:44pm
Hi Everyone. I hope everyone is doing good this weekend. We are bracing for another Nor"easter Tues into Wed. The temperature will be borderline freezing, so we will probably get a lot of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain. Not fun! I will be taking care of my parents Mon. & Tues. and my sister will relieve me Tues. night if the weather is drivable at that time. After everything that happened Friday, I have been reluctant to comminicate about our son over the internet.I know we are all praying for their safety. I was very glad the Ombudsman sent out the Awareness letter. It's hard to imagine how we need to be prepared for the safety of our families on this end too.
