I am sorry about your mom, Deborah. Can you feel the group hug? :)

Hi Deborah, I am so very sorry to hear the news about your mother. You are right about not making any decisions to tell J or the Navy until after next week after her Dr's appointment. Once you find out about all the facts, then if I were you, I would contact one of the Obudsman's to get the advice on what would be the correct way to let J know. They will know how to help you with this situation. I will pray for your Mother and family through this difficult time.

Hi Everyone!

I am struggling right now.  I am glad I have this last week of vacation but my daughter and family left Saturday (and I miss them terribly) and we have been socked in with dense fog.  Unless you have a good reason, you don't go out in it.  My mother has been sick with a cold and I have been running errands for her. But . . . she had a doctor's appt last week that has me rattled.  I talked to her doctor yesterday and now I feel worse.  He suspects cancer and on top of that says that her health risks outweigh what he would consider for surgery.  In other words, if she has cancer he would not recommend surgery, because he doesn't think she would survive it.  J's wife rightly said until we know anything for sure we should not tell J and I agree.  I am thinking this is one of these things we tell the Obudsman and not our sailors in an email?  She has an appt next week where we need to make some decisions.  I wouldn't want to alert the Navy or tell J at least until after that.  What do you girls think?  And of course, if you pray, I would covet your prayers.  Thanks.

Hi Ladies, I heard back from the Obudsman. She hasn't heard anything either, but she said that is good news, (no news, is good news)it means everything is right on schedule and we should be hearing from them soon. She also encouraged all of us to keep sending our e-mails to them b/c they do receive them and read them, but they just can't send them back to us yet.She has given us all hope that they are doing well. She also said, if anyone has any concerns, please don't ever hesitate to contact them.

What a dream, Susan.  It's like a gift from God to soothe your heart!  I believe it does mean all is well with them.  I trust them to God every day.

Hello Everyone, Well, all the Holidays are over with! So now reality is setting in. After our very busy Holiday and putting away all our Christmas decorations, I have a lot of time to think about how long it has been since we have heard from our son's. I had a so-real dream the other night. I saw this BIG huge wave in the middle of the ocean and then all of a sudden, it calmed down and then the next thing I knew, Christopher was sitting on the side of our bed and I actually felt him touching my shoulder with a "Smile" on his face and he said to me "Mom, why are you worried, everything is going really good!". When I woke up, I touched the very spot where he was sitting and just started to cry and tried to feel if he was actually there. My dream was just so-real. I actually felt like he touched me and I saw him.  But all I have been thinking about, was His BIG Smile he sent to me .Even though I get goose bumps thinking about my dream, it was his smile that I keep remembing that makes me feel like he was happy about what he is doing. I sent an e-mail to the Obudsman to ask her if there have been any up-dates that I can pass along to our Mothers in our Group. I will let you all know if I hear anything from her.

Happy New Year, everyone.  We spent New Years as we always do, quietly and at home. I sent Aaron an email recently.  I know they will see all the emails at once, so I'm trying to write as many as I can.  I can't wait to hear about his adventures in other ports.  I go back to work on Monday after a great week off.  The next week off is in February, then April, then summer.  I love my job, but I also need breaks from it to come back fresh and strong.

Happy New Year to all... for a little diversion I flew from the frozen, snow covered blizzard conditions of New Jersey and our 32 inches of snow to what I was hoping to be a warm, sunny escape to Mexico however mother nature likes to fool with the best of us and there was a dusting of snow on the ground yesterday morning after I arrived! I am here with my Mom, sister and brother in law and will be moving into the more southern part of Mexico so the weather will get better for us. I am missing my son terribly and although these are the last few months of his enlistment with the Navy, they are the hardest as I am not hearing from him during the holidays and in two more days I will celebrate his birthday without him... the first time I won't be able to speak with him on his birthday and he will be a quarter of a century old.... it feels so empty! Last Christmas was the first time he wasn't home on the holiday, but we used skype so he could be with the family as we opened Christmas gifts... he opened his online and we at least felt like family all in the same room. Time has gone by so quickly, it seems like it was only yesterday that he entered the Navy... and here we are a few months away from his leaving the Navy to come home for good... I am amazed at how much he has grown up over the years since he first left for boot camp... how the responsible he has become... and at times very arrogant, but it is all Steven! Until next time... stay safe, warm, and most of all hold those you love close to your heart! ~ <3 to u all!

Happy New Year, Everyone!  I had a quiet New Years as well.  I babysat my grandson while my daughter and son-in-law went out.  I didn't let him stay up until midnight because he is sick with a bad cold.  But when I was still awake at 11:15 pm, I decided to go ahead and stay up until 12.  Today is the anniversary of J and Bailee's relationship and they had originally planned to get married today (1/1/11) but with this date being the middle of deployment, it didn't happen.  So they got married this past July.  I know she will be missing him today especially.  He arranged for her to have roses delivered yesterday.  They are beautiful and she felt very loved.  I hope today is a great day of the new year for all of you.  And it is another day closer to when our sons come home :).

Happy 2011 New Year Everyone!!! How was everyone's New Year? Our's was pretty quite this year. I worked all day on Friday, so we took the family to an Italian Restaurant at 7:00pm. We came home went, to a neighbor's house until midnight. Our grandson made it up until 12:00,he had a blast at midnight. We took Jonathan took the train station in Phila. this a.m.where he will meet up with his good friend in DC and drive down to the AFB in FLA.The weather doesn't look to good for driving today on 95 South,so I'll be worried about that until I know they have reached their destination. We all were thinking about Christopher last night at midnight, just wondering if their was any hope of them being docked somewhere fro a couple of hours so they could be a part of the New Year and see some fireworks!! Really really missed him this whole year, being way out in San Diego, and then no contact during the Holidays, lots of tears, but it was good to be around family and good friends to comfort us.
