I heard that their deployment has been moved up to possibly January? Anybody else hear the same?

aatimom - sorry to hear about your son. My prayers are with you!

Reid'sMa - my son is a Seaman Apprenctice right now until he is eligable to strike in a year. You are right there are alot of sailors and maybe they might meet and or not. I like how it is still smaller than a carrier...lol.

Annie, I don't know what your son does. Was he the SA (I don't know what that is even!) My son's a Sonar Tech. Since there is a crew of over 300 they probably have not met!

aatimom, bro of a sailor is now on my prayer list (neck injury). Hope all goes well.

yes, I would like to meet other USS Stockdale moms!  My son comes home Monday til Wed.  My youngest son sufferered a severe injury in January on a ski trip and we are meeting with a neck surgeon also next week.  Praying for a good outcome!  I would like to get together, but it will have to be after we decide if our son needs surgery and if he does, after his long recovery.  I am anxious to see my son on Monday.  I know he's pretty tired and it looking forward to some TLC!

Very nice! It is good to put a picture to a face!  Do you think our son's know each other by now?  Have a wonderful weekend with your son!  I wish I could be in San Diego right now.

I sure hope he can get a barrocks off ship, keeping my fingers cross for soon! He knows somebody that is on the ship that lives in San Diego, and he stayed with him last weekend. But that will get old as well as the ship. What do you think his chances are of getting into a barrack soon?

Comment by Reid's Ma on March 13, 2012 at 1:32pm

What I got is that they were not to be out long--just testing what they fixed in port. That's what they do...fix and test!  He'll like living off the ship better. You know, sometimes I "google earth" and look at the piers, my sons apt. bldg. and just say "Hi, somewhere you're out there and I am too". Sounds pretty silly, huh....  he's been in 7 yrs. and I miss him alot.

Reid's Ma - thank you for explaining the BEQ.. My son did say he signed up for one, but will take awhile to get. He had liberty this weekend and did everything he possibly could to enjoy San Diego. Having fun! I am sorry I am not close enough to have lunch, darn! So I am guessing now that they are out from port, we won't hear from them for awhile?
