Where are you wanting to live? We live in Norfolk and love it! But like any city there are parts you wouldn't want to live in. It's a 20 minute commute for my husband. Chesapeake and Virginia Beach are nice, just a little more expensive and a farther commute. We found our apartment on ahrn.com. Everything on there is military friendly and usually comes with some sort of discount. If you see anything on there that you're interested in feel free to send me the link and I can do a drive by on it and see what neighborhood it's in.

It is Great to hear that you get to see your LO almost everyday:)

Ellen- Thanks for the welcome! I asked because if he will be deployed I was going to delay my move to VA. My LO is away at OCS and don't have his orders yet so we only have a 'round about' time frame of when we may have to move. I haven't seen him in over a month and miss him something terrible! It wouldn't make too much sense to move to VA right away if he'll be deployed as soon as we get there.

Hi 'Forhim,' Welcome to the Group! The Truxtun just started workups in preparation for their first deployment coming up in the middle of next year. Between now and then they'll be gone a fair amount, your LO will be able to share those dates with you, or you can e-mail me for more specifics at ekob6f@gmail.com. As far as seeing your LO, I see my husband everyday unless he has duty, if they are in port. Feel free to email me, welcome aboard :)

If any of my questions seem like it may be too much information please feel free to write me privately. **** I understand that some information should not be shared on an open discussion due to safety reasons. I felt the need to add the last sentence because someone seemed angry with me at another discussion because I asked similar questions but I assumed that we all knew how to conduct ourselves and knew not to reveal real 'sensitive' information openly. Thanks again!
