One more thing about the FRG and ombudsman: Feel free to contact those pages to be added to our email list. The sailors get a welcome packet as they onboard that requests family's emails, but we don't always get them back in a timely manner. Thanks!

Please remember OPSEC, and not to discuss ship movements, missions or critical information. Chris-Ray's Mom, I'm going to take down your comment, if you would like to post again. We just can't have information about their schedule publicly posted. Sorry, I hope you can understand. Ellen
very cool. we live 3 mi N of Saxapahaw just off Thom Rd (off Sax-Beth Church Rd). 21 yr ago we lived in Greensboro.
Hi again, Chris,
I know the Graham area well. We live in Stokes County, north of Greensboro, and I drive to Chapel Hill to teach at the journalism school two days a week. It takes us about 5.5 hours to get to our son's house from our home. We're going soon to mow his yard because he's at school in Newport.
it is about a 4-4.5 hour drive to Norfolk, but try to get there as often as possible.
we live near Graham, about 15 miles west of Chapel Hill.
Welcome Karen K's mom. Great to have you here! My son is ET, been on ship since Oct. Seems to really like the group. We were abel to attend the shop's Holiday Party (in March) and met several of his shipmates, the Commander and the FRG (Family Readiness Group) leader, among others. Great people. The Commander is a fantastic person who has a lot of energy and really supports his crew. If you have a facebook account, like the USS Truxtun, the FRG and the Ombudsman and you will get a lot of great information adn support as well. The Commander puts out updates probably at least every quarter and the FRG has frequent posts. The FRG is a spouse, shore based, person who is there to organize events as possible and support the families of sailors. They have Holiday parties for the kids, fund raisers...
Where do you live? We are in NC, so we get to see our son several times a year. This year they will be very busy with prep for deployment. Again, welcome.
Hello All,,
My daughter has been assigned to the Truxton, and I would like to get to know you.
