Ellen, I grew up in O'Fallon and live 20min north of there in Old Monroe; small world! Thank you for the info, I will look into it.

I just saw you're from Missouri! We're from St. Louis, and are getting ready to move to Columbia in about three months. We still have family in St. Louis, O'Fallon, and Wright City.

Hi Ginnysue, welcome! Yes, they will definitely fly him out to either a port or to the carrier, and then onto Truxtun. If you're on facebook come check out the FRG and Ombudsman pages to keep up to date with ship activities. You can search USS Truxtun FRG and USS Truxtun Ombudsman. Glad to have you and your son aboard!

So, it is more likely my son will be flown out to the ship at some point than it actually coming in? I am clueless about all this!

Pat L, Thank you for the clarification on which page, Carolyn

Hi Ginnysue! Welcome.I wish the Truxtun could come pick your son up in Norfolk. Then we could all go see our sailors!
When my son was on his previous deployment, he was flown home for school in Newport, and then flown back to the ship he was on at the time. On the way, he went to Djibouti. He said that was quite an experience!

Hello all! I am new here. My son just arrived in Norfolk last Monday. He is an MM and is so excited to be serving on the Truxtun as his first assignment! Now, if it will only come pick him up! :0)
