Well my husband just requested a twin size. i figure even though it'll be a little oversized since they aren't fortunate enough to have twin sized bed racks, he can tuck/fold it to it's requirement still. No worries. ;)

I'm glad he asked for it because I wouldn't have though to send him it all on my own. lol

Aw that's wonderful that you heard from your son. :) Did he call from the ship phone? lol I wasn't sure if it/they were still up and running. how neat.

My mother-in-law and I sent my husband a sheet and some pillow cases today. Hopefully he'll get them soon. He requested a new white sheet (all they are allowed to have) due to the oldness/ gross feeling of his current ones. I don't blame him. haha yuck.

I hope the Vicksburg page keeps those crew/sights pictures coming! :) I agree that it's wonderful to see all they're up to and working so hard at. So proud!

Have a great day. God bless. ;)

Hi Navy Families! I hope this letter finds you all in good health and high spirits! I finally got a phone call from my son last week. The phone delay threw me off. I thought something was wrong. All is well. I am catching up reading post, so I can send a care package to my son. Very happy seeing the pictures of the USS Vicksburg and Crew. I actually got to see my sons picture today. This made me so happy ....:)  I feel so incredibly proud knowing we have such wonderful people serving our country.Have a blessed week all!

So glad you heard from your son, JM.

It's great they are receiving our mail. I'm always nervous about sending anything out thinking it'll never  get there.. but, that's the risk we take. ;) Hopefully they'll keep receiving everything in a (military) timely fashion. I want/need to make another care package for my husband, but I feel like I should wait until he gets the other one I sent. Still curious why he received my ketters/other care packages, except that one. oh well..

I hope you all had a wonderful Easter. God bless.

Look at you with all the info Jason'sMom. :) That's wonderful!

I am actually surprised that your son hasn't received any of your letters yet. It sounds like they received a great deal of mail on the 1st. My husband was fortunate enough to receive 2 of my letters, 2 from his parents and 2 care packages from others (but he hasn't received my care package yet). It sounds like a friend of is got a care package today, though I have no idea who all got mail today. I hope my husband gets mine soon and it's not just floating through US mail somewhere. haha

And I think you're right JM.. It is easier for mom's to get their baby pictures sent in. ;) haha ..It's too bad we culdn't get one sent in faster. There were some  ADORABLE pictures of him. :)

Call me blonde or whatever but just to make sure...if I just want to send my husband a letter then I need to send it to the USO address?

Comment by navywife21 on April 5, 2012 at 12:36am

Hope I could help a little, Jason'sMom. :)

I wasn't able to send any baby pictures of my sailor before the pages were filled, but i'm sure we'll get to be apart of the next activity. As soon as my hubby saw the baby picture of him (in whatever they're doing with them), he probably would've just looked at me and said "really??!!" Maybe i'm better off not having it i there. haha ;)

I hope everyone has a lovely Easter. :) Take care!

Hi Jason'sMom. If you call the post office and ask them to send you the Liberty  Box Kit, or something like that, they'll send you care package boxes of various sizes, some tape, etc. It's free of charge and you can ask for as many kits as you'll need.

It's easy to send a care package out. You just have to make sure that eveything you put in it is acceptable. (Nothing that will melt, expire, stuff like that.) There's a ton of lists of care package ideas if you search for it on Google. :)

I'm not sure what the exact address is to send your letters to the USO stuff, but if you email Jamie back (in the FRG) she'll answer all those questions for you.

I'm glad you're receiving emails from your son. My husband reminds me all the time that our emails are what keeps their days positive and keeps everyone's chin up. So keep those letters going! :)

Have a wonderful day.

Hi ladies. I hope you're all hangin' in there and getting some word from your Sailors!

I was fortunate enough to Skype with mine while they were ported briefly and loved every second of it. You never know how much it means to hear their voice until you can't talk in what feels like forever.

That being said, I had a question for you all and am hoping someone has the answers. lol ..My husband bought a Trackphone while he was out sight seeing today with his liberty buddies and when he tried to use it to call me, it was all in the Greek language and impossible to use. lol Go figure! He said he couldn't figure it out and I didn't get a phonecall today, then he'd like me to go out and buy him a track phone from here and send it in a care package so he can hopefully get it before they port next. we just really want to talk on the phone. lol

So am I able to send him one? Minutes and everything, etc? I am sure it uses more minutes internationally.. They have those right? ..Any info would be most helpful!

Thanks Ruralnavymom! :) I love it.

No we haven't set up a home yet. I'm back in NE with both our families where we're from until we can set all that up there when they're back. ..Well I know that not all of them have phonecalls as an option. Like my hubby, we shut his phone off when they left, so unless he decides to get a phone card or can borrow someone's laptop, etc.. doesn't look like we'll be hearing his voice. lol I'm ok with emails though. As long as I hear something and he's safe, i'm just fine. :) ..I'm sorry you missed your son's call! I'd be rather upset. (though, what can yuh do, right?)

My husband's undesignated right now. He has til sept to decide as far as i know. He could really do anything though. He's ridiculous smart. Just a matter of choice now. lol

...Thanks again for the info about them getting mail on the first, NavyWife2010! I'm so glad I got to "meet" you. haha It's crazy that our hubby's know each other. once again, small world! :)

God Bless!
