You're welcome, 'Jason's Mom'. Glad I could help a little.

So glad you got to hear from your sailor this week!! I too was able to hear from my hubby a few times. I've been very lucky with it thus far!

If you haven't already, you should "like" the U.S Navy page on Facebook. Lately they've been posting refueling videos and a video of them sailing in formation with the rest of the Strike group, on their page. It's awesome to see. Most anything involving the Enterprise on there, you'll see the Vicksburg. :)

I'm not much of a Denver fan myself (not for football anyway), but I don't mind Tebow. lol ...Manning's a whole different story. hahaha

Have a great day!

The family Readiness Group (FRG) is the ship's emailing list to keep the families in touch with what's going on with our sailors. They send emails out regularly about the "Halfway celebration", ideas for their Homecoming, they send out photos and all the info from their monthly meetings (for those of us that live out of state). It's super helpful and supportive.

I was told to pass along their email addresses for Vicksburg family members so that they are able to answer your questions when need-be. :)

The president of the Vicksburg FRG's name is Jamie. She's very nice.

Just today I received an email from them about somehting their trying to put together and are accepting photos from family members. I'll message you the address. Just let them know who you are and they'll add you to the emailing list. :)

Jason's mom- I am not sure where their computers are specifically located on the ship, but yes they use the ship's provided computers to send out emails.

My hubby said that it takes a lot longer though because with almost 400 crew members and way fewer officers the ratio is unfair. (The officers are fewer and have more computers available to them in their quarters than the crew members do.) The lower in rank, share a handful of them.

Hey 'Sparkle'.

Everything's alright on this end. :) How are you doing?

I too heard from my Sailor yesterday. I've been lucky the last 2 days and have recieved an email. Isn't it amazing how much emails/letters/phone calls mean everything to you when your hubby/child is away? i love getting their mail. It puts the biggest smile on my face. :)

..You'll find that this site is most helpful to find out little pieces of info that your sailor may not be able to fill you in on. Finding NavyForMoms has helped me a lot because every person here knows exactly how you're feeling. Whether you're ecstatic cuz their coming home/are excelling, etc, or you're nervous/anxious. It's all very tight knit and anything we can do to help, we will. :)

Also, If you're not on facebook, you may want to look into that to specifically see some of the info on the Vicksburg page. It's helpful as well.

Have a great day.

yes I have been an active person on the Vicksburg facebook page. I actually "shared" that video of the refueling at sea today and showed it to my mother/father-in-law. :) I thought it was very neat to see. The Facebook page is really good about providing photos a lot of the time. I also shared their "sail away day" pictures on my 'wall' as well! My family likes to see what they do.

I met another navy wife on this site a couple nights ago and her hubby is on the Enterprise. We've gotten to chatting a little bit about this Deployment and their homecoming events, etc. This site has proven most helpful!

..I don't know if you saw my other comment on here about the Family Readiness Group (FRG) for the Vicksburg.. Are you on their emailing address list?

We got married while he was home on leave in December and then he thankfully got to come home on leave for a couple weeks and then went back a few days before they deployed. I loved every single minute of having him home with me. :)

It is very hard having my husband away from daily communication, but he too has been in Florida since 2010 so I haven't been able to be with him (physically) every step of the way, as I'm still back at home in NE (since we knew this deploynent was coming). I will be with him there when they return.
..my husband private messaged Mr on Facebook. That's the only way he was able to reach me (that he had all my info) and could log in. It Also depends on your sailor's job how often he will be able to respond. I'm sure it wont be long until you hear from him. :)
Glad I could help! Add be if you'd like. I kbow how hard it is. I'm sure you miss your son very much.

Hi 'Jason's mom'! How are you holding up. Although thus is my husbands first deployment I will help in any way I can. This site is very helpful and ive been trying to read up as much as possible to find some of this small detail stuff out.
My husband emailed today, but not from his navy account. He had said that the accounts are still down for some reason and that he would let me kbow when it was working again.
The communication rules differ from ship to ship, but from what I can gather about the Vicksburg, I dont believe they can use their own internet tools. My husband said when he was hike on leave that its very strict and even if they try to charge their phones or anything off the computers, it shuts the computer down automatically. (In fear of someone tracking to hack the system.) ..don't worry if you don't hear back from them right away. They're the best of the best and in good hands. The later into this fdeployment they get, the less we'll hear. No worries.
..just keep all letters positive and upbeat. My husband has reassured me that mail days are everyone's favorite and raise spirits. So don't be afraid to pull out paper and even write littke notes to send. :) ..let me know whenever I can help!

Oh I'm glad he wasn't the only one with a log-in problem. I was hoping something wasnt wrong. ..that's great that your husband got to email you. I was grinning from ear to ear after I got his email. :)
Oh, you have a 4 year old? Adorable. I don't have any kids myself.
..I'm actually still back in our home state (Nebraska) until deployments over. Unless he gets relocated, I should be in Jacksonville with him soon. :)
