Hello to all VBSS Moms out there whose sons are deployed right now like mine is!

Congratulations to your son and you Helen! That is wonderful!
What a neat picture, Page! Those are really held dear! Love em in their training gear! Those will always be great memory stirring photos much later on! Yep, a lot of training and drills for the months ahead going on. All the better for preparations. Prayers always said for them all, and all others in general. Shaky times we all live in...

Yes, that's the answer you'll hear a lot of..("fun") !!! Goes to show its that adrenaline junkie thing!! Actually, in watching and learning, I see their fascination, it does look fun, and if I were younger (LOTS younger!! Lol) I would've loved play like that too! Rougher the better. Gotta love life with older brothers!
As for whose watching over them? Not sure what your looking for? THEY are looking out...they have each others back. This is part of their training. Course their ship is watching too, but from a distance of course. All the more to have continuous training and evals...peer pressure is high, but should. If you can't trust one to keep you safe, the whole team goes down. Don't worry, continual evals keep them fresh, keep them up to date, and ready for what's thrown them. Gives them a chance to learn new productivity maneuvers. Productive criticism. I know. Sometimes ignorance is Bliss!

Welcome in 09USNAMOM14! I haven't been real active in awhile, several deployments, several things can't be discussed, and a hectic, chaotic work schedule. But, if you have any questions, ask away. Will try and get you answers best as can be. Don't worry much (we're moms, can't take all of it away!) They are WELL trained, they don't pass thru without it, and they do go out and keep training and getting evaluated all the time. They learn their teammates well, as they should. Lives of each other depend on it. If he is a thrill junk too, a great job for him!!

They may have had the advantage at first, but know full well the determination that your son has will remain with him and show that spirit that all (instructors, classmates, etc) will see and respect! That is tremendous and needed teamwork! Yeah, standing proud that we all share, absolutely! More power to him! He'll make it, no doubt it that. The best things come to those who try so hard. Do keep us posted so we can be there for you too.

Oh yes! They train alot! Not only train, they keep their shipmates all informed, just in case. While both of mine were in port awhile back, I visited them and toured one's ship. While waiting for the other, it became apparent that we would not get to go aboard, but I did watch him on the bow "training" a dozen shipmates of a few "holds" in case they needed keep their 'prisoners' on board! It was awesome watching him teach and train! Yeah, mine, too were anxious to really use their training..but it comes...in due time!
So, is Billy starting his SARS training yet? It may seem like he has so much to do, plus his own job, and other requirements from the Navy, but it really all falls into place and is good for them. It draws those with like interest into a tighter bond, and such a good camaraderie!

Welcome in Paige! Yes, we have all been there in regards to being so proud in one breath, shivering in fear the next. Well, at least a few breaths were held!!! You are right to be proud, they are an elite group of sailors, and once through this training, they are more than elite...they are OUR SAILORS!! Congratulations, it is grueling and intensive training and definately deserve our support. Keep us informed of his progress!

Hello ladies! Been quiet for such a long time in here! Gee, not since...well, like that ol' oil spill in the Gulf had started...
Just thought I would check in and see how you are all doing? Just thinking of all you fine ladies, and your sailors....
Carolyn, how are you holding up? Your son busy in school after PIR? Did someone tape your daughter's chorus concert for you? So difficult being a parent of sevral children and trying to be in soooo many directions at once..
Helen, hope Matt's doing fine, now that he has accomplished the OC spray, and the rest of the training? Busy now wanting to go out and put things into perspective?!!
