Oooh my dear - even two weeks out is not enough time! Try they can still mess up at Battlestations (their final event). Even if the Div passes, they as a single recruit have to also pass.
Anytime you want to get together and chat - let me know. lol!!!
LOL!! That's funny! No, we are not natives. We moved to DC in 2009 where we were both employed then my husband was "deployed" to Williamsburg a year later. I waited a while and then followed him here since we are empty-nesters. We've been here a year and going into the second (he's been extended another year) and love it here! We've decided this is where we want to "retire" (do ppl really do that anymore?). Yes,Thurs - Sunday.
He graduates April 29th. The downside on waiting to purchase tickets - they only get more expensive as the time nears for you to leave. And the hotels book fast! I would suggest the Navy Lodge or Gateway Inn.
We live not far from New Town - you?
Thank you for the prayers!! My husband and I are both sitting here sweating tomorrow. Especially since we won't know anything (unless he makes that dreaded "injured" or "failed" call!) until he writes again. I suppose he will go into the fitness program but we've already bought plane tickets/booked hotel/rental car - and the flights are non-refundable! Yes, I know they discourage those but the refundable flights were SO expensive! We are also flying one of our sons in from Orlando (and of course time off from work already on the books!). YIKES!
He's a pretty determined young man so I'm keeping my fingers/toes/eyes crossed that he passes.
Well, the mailman did NOT bring the news I was hoping for! :( He said he is still having trouble with the run and is really hoping he can pass the final PT. He asked that we "pray for him" because his final is Friday (tomorrow). Sounds like he can use all the prayers out there to get past this! He has come too far and had perfect scores on his personnel and rack inspections since he arrived!!
Yes, the first few weeks you won't hear ANYTHING! You will just sit and wonder what is going on. If they DO mess up or have an injury/etc. they are required to call home to let their parent know about it. If they score well on inspections, they earn a phone call home so keep close to your phone as the weeks pass. :)
BTW - the 1st REAL phone call is TOUGH!! Most all recruits, male and female cry. lol!!
Well, let me put it this way - he has attempted twice and failed both times. We gave him a "motivational speech" last week in hopes that it will encourage him to push himself just a tad harder since his timing is off by only 10 seconds per mile. I am sitting here waiting for the mailman as I type hoping it brings good news that he has passed - finally!!
They will (and do) work with them so she will probably be fine. Which part of the fitness is she lacking in? Our son needed to RUN (as opposed to walking which is what he was doing prior to shipping out).
The first few weeks were horrible with him. He has consistently been determined to see this thru but at one point he said he thought about quitting. :( We are down to the wire now - 15 more days! He is a much happier guy now and looking forward to graduation.
